Cougar Helor 240 AIO CPU Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Cougar Helo 240mm AIO CPU Cooler is available right now from most major retailers. We’ve found it on Amazon for £106.99, which is a lot of money, but for the quality and performance on offer, it’s certainly competitive. Plus, if you wanted to step up for higher TDP CPUs and overclocking, you can grab the 360mm version for £121.99.

Overview

CPU coolers aren’t exactly hard to find, heck, even finding a good one is pretty easy these days. The big-name brands have been pumping out competitive and great quality products for many years. You have to put some effort in to find something really awful. Cougar has shown us some fantastic coolers in the past, and I’m happy to report that their Helor is another great addition to their range.

Build Quality

That’s easily one of the (literal) strong points of this cooler. It feels really robust from the moment you take it out of the box. The radiator is really nice quality, albeit, it’s broadly the same as every other radiator for obvious reasons. The tubing is really good quality with tight braiding, and the pump looks absolutely stunning. It’s not as blocky as some pumps, it’s quite compact actually, but it still gets the job done just fine.

Design

It’s a really nice looking cooler, that much is easy enough. Uniform black paintwork, black cables, and black sleeving keep things looking neat and tidy. This provides a strong contrast for the frosty plastic on the top of the pump and the fans too. Addressable RGB is everywhere these days, but it’s still great to see it included, and the addition of their RGB hub really simplifies the process too. Puking rainbows, to your favourite shade of red, it’s all just a button press away.

Performance

I was pretty confident that the Cougar cooler would be really competitive. However, in our testing, it was competing with some of the most expensive air coolers and AIO coolers around with ease. Even while overclocked, it made easy work of the i9-9900K. There was some fan noise when maxed out, but that’s true of any AIO really. However, for an overclocking gaming rig, it’s absolutely perfect.
