Cougar Revenger RGB 12k DPI Optical Gaming Mouse Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The Cougar Revenger is available now from most major retailers. You can expect to pay around £45 right now, which I suspect may be a sale. I’ve seen prices around £65 to £75 and didn’t think that seemed too expensive given the quality and performance. My advice, shop around a little more than usual, as there are some deals out there and you may not want to miss them. Even at the higher price, I think it’s competitive, but at the lower price, it’s insane value for money.

Overview

These days, every brand has a bloody fantastic gaming mouse. You can go to Corsair, Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries, and many others and get something superb for similar money. So long as you stick to the big names these days, you’ll have a hard time finding something that sucks. The same is true with Cougar and they’ve been making award-winning and surprisingly affordable peripherals for years now. The cougar Revenger is certainly one of the best they’ve ever done though, and it’ll go head to head with any other big-name gaming mouse all day long.

Performance

The PWM3360 sensor is an award winner in its own right. Perfect tracking throughout the whole DPI range. Putting it in the Revenger immediately elevates this to a pretty serious gaming mouse. Plus, with their UIX gaming software, you can fully customise the DPI range and tune it to your liking. Then it’s simply a case of pulling the DPI trigger on the mouse and getting exactly what you need when you need it. Throw in those Omron switches, the utterly brilliant scroll wheel design, and the Revenger has just enough to stand out from the crowd.

Customisation

The software suite is pretty decent, and I say that as someone who hates all these desktop customisation apps for peripherals. It’s easy to use, and you can dial in profiles, macros, lighting settings in just a few minutes. You can then save all that to the mouse, ditch the software, and never worry about it again, which is great.

Should I Buy One?

If you want a mouse that has the best sensor and switches on the market, combined with ergonomics (right-handed only) that feel comfortable in any grip type, and a price that’s not going to empty your wallet, the Cougar Revenger is a truly fantastic choice. Highly recommended!
