Creative Sound BlasterX Siege M04 Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look

It is immediately apparent that the Siege M4 is a premium quality product. The weight, the look and the general feel of it just ooze luxury and that’s certainly a good thing. The design is pretty unique too, with a nice mixture of angular panels and various finishes that give it an aggressive looking stance that looks great on its own, and no doubt even better with the RGB lighting powered on.

Down the left side, you’ll find three buttons, two at the top for general navigation, and one near the front that would be perfect as a Sniper or macro button.

Both the left and right side of the mouse have a durable rubber grip that is sure to last a very long time. The grip is ergonomically curved, allowing you to really dig in your fingers and get a firm hold on the mouse. This is perfect for fingertip grip types, and also makes it a lot easier to lift-off the mouse, which is improved further by the mouse’s 2mm lift-off height.

Both the LMB and RMB are mounted on their own individually sprung panels, giving then snappy and responsive feedback with a well-defined yet lightweight tactile click that’s great for accuracy. Between those, you’ll find a DPI switch at the top, and a large rubber grip coated scroll wheel, which has a fairly fast rotation speed, but a clear “bump” at each step for added control.

The mouse is tuned for right-handed use, and you can see how the mouse slopes off more on the right edge, with the RMB being a little longer too to better accommodate your middle finger at an optimal actuation point.

The slightly lower right-hand side of the mouse means that your wrist will sit in a more natural position while gaming, which should help reduce strain during those long gaming sessions.

The underside of the mouse feels very glossy, which combined with four large slipmats gives the Seige M04 excellent glide on hard cloth, soft mat and even aluminium gaming surfaces. What’s really interesting is that there’s a frosted plastic strip all the way around the edge of the mouse, which we’ll see lit up with RGB lighting shortly and should give the M04 some cool under-glow lighting effects.

Overall, we think this is one of the best looking and feeling mice we’ve seen hit the market in a long time, so let’s get it plugged in and see what it can do!
