Crimson Desert Will Be a “Premium Experience” With No Microtransactions
Nowadays, it is not unusual to find paid games that include stores with all kinds of microtransactions, as shown by titles such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, Pearl Abyss has decided to move away from this trend and has made things clear: Crimson Desert will not follow this business model.
A Premium Experience With No Extra Payments
There will be no “cosmetic shop,” explains Will Power, PR director for Crimson Desert. “This is made to be a premium experience that you buy, and you enjoy the world and not something for microtransactions. This is a premium experience, that is the transaction, full stop.”
Crimson Desert is now complete and is set to launch on March 19 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
If you’re not familiar with Crimson Desert, it is described as an “open-world action-adventure game set in the beautiful yet brutal continent of Pywel. Embark on a journey as the Greymane Kliff and restore what has been lost. Explore uncharted lands, fight against threats that stand in your way, and discover the wonders the world has in store.”
In related news, several industry analysts predict that the base price for major AAA video games is expected to remain at $70 through 2026, while in-game microtransactions, DLC, and digital in-app purchases are likely to see significant price increases.
