Packaging
From first glance, you may think that there’s not much to say about the packaging, but you’d be wrong, as if you go back pre-2009, you would have seen Crucial memory come in an anti-static bag, which would have been nicely tucked away in a recyclable cardboard box with Crucial sticker acting as a security anti-tamper proof seal.

Looking at the direction that Crucial are heading in now, you will see that the modules come in a slightly different packaging in the form of plastic clam shell style casing.

The reasoning behind this is simple; as the ESD bags that were used before were non-recyclable and the new ESD-coated PET packaging is 100% recyclable, therefore giving Crucial the environmental edge over their competitors.

You will find that along with the memory modules (encased in PET packaging) is a leaflet explaining the installation process, troubleshooting tips and technical support details, which is always handy for novice users and even the most expert users from time to time.

Once you have opened up the plastic packaging, you will notice that it acts as a security seal by breaking part of the plastic and creating two holes. This is a fantastic idea and is simply quite genius due to the minimal packaging, and will give users piece of mind when purchasing Crucial memory products.
