Crucial’s new BX300 SSD is available now, for example through Amazon. You can get the 480GB model which I tested today for $149.99 or £139.19. The smaller 240GB model will cost you $88.99/£83.99 while the 120GB model costs $59.99/£56.39.
I have tested close to every Crucial drive released the last three years and I have yet to be disappointed. The BX300 continues the companies line of great performing drives for a fair price.
The BX300 is a classic SSD. It comes in a 2.5-inch form factor and SATA3 interface, which makes it highly compatible with almost any system. While the external are traditional, the internals aren’t. By using a great Silicon Motion controller and Micron’s 3D MLC NAND, Crucial created a durable budget drive that performs like an enthusiast model. A high throughput, consistent results on big operations, and an impressive random performance make this drive a winner in my book.
Feature wise, we also get everything we want. From basics such as TRIM and SMART to advanced error correction code and garbage collection. Notebook users will also reap the benefit of the DevSleep function.
Overall, a great drive and bundle for a low asking price.
“Crucial sets a new standard for budget drives with the BX300 series. Impressive performance for a low price.”
