Crucial presents their new 8GB memory

Crucial, a global brand of memory and storage upgrades, has revealed today their new memory addition in form of 8GB modules that come both for desktop and laptop.

The Crucial 8GB DDR3-1333MHz come both in a UDIMM (desktop) and a SODIMM (laptop) version, therefore allowing the upgrade to be done on a wider variety of products which is a need in today’s memory eating applications and softwares required for the everyday computing.

Apart from the higher capacity, the multiple use, and the fact that it supports the latest 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 and i5 processors, these new kits present one particularity, the voltage. These new kits are 1.35V while the actual counterpart is 1.5V, and while this may seem rather small of an improvement, don’t be fooled. Lower power means lower power consumption, naturally, but it also mean less heat, which means extended lifetime, everything is connected in way.

“We’re seeing the total maximum density of desktop and laptop system memory grow as a direct result of the size and complexity in software applications,” said Michael Moreland, worldwide product manager for Crucial DRAM. “The new Apple® iMac®, for example, can utilize up to 32GB of system memory, enabling intense computing power for applications such as video-, photo-, or music- editing software. High-density memory isn’t just for servers anymore; consumers also want to get the most performance out of their system.”

These modules really are a solution for all kinds of use, whether it be for all-in-one to laptops, passing by home theatre PCs, except maybe for the hardcore gaming market, I don’t see a place where it wouldn’t fit.

Aside all these, the module are also Intel-validated, halogen-free and RoHS compliant. They are available in kits ranging from 16GB to 24GB, come with a limited-lifetime warranty and can be purchased through Curcial’s channel partners including Dabs and Misco as well as Crucial’s official website.
