A Closer Look

Removing the protecting foam packaging and getting a look inside, its easy to see where Corsair’s Air 540 chassis gets its name from. The system has a very open feel to it and this design means that air is able to freely move around all the major components to keep them cool. Obviously we can see that there is a lack of power supply (or what appears to be) but this is all part of the design of the new chassis.

Before we take a deeper look inside and instead having a look around the outside of the system, we can now see where the PSU resides. The Air 540 has a dual compartment design that allows for the PSU and cables to all be kept behind the main system out of the way, leaving a tidier look to the main build which is viewable through a full side panel window. On the back of the chassis we can see that there is more than enough ventilation to be had, even for the PSU compartment.

Looking a little closer, the PSU is mounted on its side which keeps the case within a reasonable size – even though its a lot wider than a typical ATX chassis.

Around on the front of the case, the first thing that I have to make note of is the rather good looking Cyberpower case badge that has been fitted to the system. This is the first vendor that we have seen to put their own branding on the build and to be honest why not – its a clear marketing point that I’m surprised many others have not thought of before. The front of the case comes with a pair of USB3.0 ports, the usual audio ports and a chunky feeling power button towards the middle of the case.

Turning the case around and having a look inside the PSU compartment, its easy to say that cable management here is very easy. With no space constraints between the back of the motherboard and the side panel, all the systems cables can be easily bundled together in what ever way necessary keeping them all tidy at the same time.

The PSU of choice for the Infinity Achilles Pro is a Corsair HX600M modular unit. This mid range PSU is great for what it is and with a 600W rating its more than capable of handling even some of the more power hungry systems that we see around today. This means that the spec we have here is nothing and it will be able to purr along all day long with no fuss. Above the PSU is a small bank of 2.5″ tool free drive cages. This nifty set of cages adds a lot of storage potential to the case – especially for those who like to have their SSDs in numbers.

Finally around the back we have a Blu-Ray drive courtesy of Lite-On.

Moving back round to the main part of the system and working down from the top, the Infinity Achilles Pro comes with an Intel 4670k which has been overclocked to 4.5GHz on one of Gigabyte’s Z86-HD3 motherboards. Cooling is taken care of by a Corsair H60 closed loop water cooling system.

8GB of Kingston HyperX Predator 2133MHz RAM is included in the spec by default, however like all a parts of the system, this can be upgraded if preferred (do note that this may increase the overall cost).

Moving down the board we comes across the GPU. Cyberpower don’t advertise which cards in particular that they use, but in this case we have an MSI GTX 760 2GB Gaming edition card.

The last major part of the system is storage. Like many other system integrators, storage is provided in two halves – an SSD for the boot drive and a hard drive for game and media storage. The SSD – a Samsung 840 series 250GB and HDD – a Seagate Barracuda 1TB – are both mounted on to removable drive trays for ease of upgrade on the future.

Not forgetting the cooling to the system, the build has 5 fans in total to be found, two 140mm fans on the front, a 1400mm on the top of the case, and two fans on the H60 cooling system in a push / pull configuration, basically more than enough to keep everything cool. Just to the right of the fans we can also see a lighting strip that illuminates the main chamber of the case in a bright white light.
