CD Projekt RED is now heavily immersed in the development of its sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, and a member of the team has revealed that the game has more developers working on it than it ever had during the making of its previous epic, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
During a round of shareholder questions, CD Projekt RED was asked (translations courtesy of NeoGAF user boskee):
“In your recent presentation you have mentioned, that there are over 100 people working on Gwent. I understand that the remaining employees work on CP2077 (minus tech support for TW3)”
CD Projekt RED responded:
“There are currently more game developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 than on The Witcher 3 in its most intensive month.”
The news tallies with reports from that the game’s development has expanded beyond initial plans, and that it is set to be bigger than anything that CD Projekt RED has ever worked on.
In addition, a new job posting related to Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed that the game is set to feature planes, bikes, and robots that the player will be able to pilot. The listing, for the position of Senior Vehicle Artist, says:
“As a Senior Vehicle Artist you will be responsible for modeling incredibly complex vehicles, planes, bikes, robots and mechanics.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is still far from having a confirmed release date – CD Projekt RED has intimated that it could announce a release date in 2017, which is already planned, and has joked that the game should be ready by 2077 – and little is known about its actual gameplay, but it is one of the most anticipated titles currently in development.
