Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature DLSS Support and Multiple Graphics Modes
CD Projekt RED has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 will use DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) for all four of its graphical modes (two for handheld mode and two when docked). This makes Cyberpunk 2077 the first game officially confirmed to use NVIDIA’s AI-based upscaling technology.
A spokesperson from CD Projekt RED stated, “We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores. The game utilises DLSS in all four modes: in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.”
Details on Graphical Modes
Regarding the graphical modes, CD Projekt confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 offers two modes when docked: a Quality mode at 30 fps and a Performance mode at 40 fps. In both cases, the game runs at 1080p, achieved through dynamic resolution combined with DLSS.
In handheld mode, there are two similar presets, but with some differences. The Quality mode remains at 1080p and 30 fps, while the Performance mode reduces the resolution to 720p at 40 fps.
CD Projekt told Digital Foundry that the DLSS scaling “can range from 2x and up per axis.” As a result, tech enthusiasts estimate that the dynamic resolution will range from a minimum of 540p to 1080p, while in Performance mode in handheld mode, the resolution could drop from 360p to 720p.
