DeepCool AK620 Digital Pro CPU Cooler Review
How Much Does it Cost?
The DeepCool AK620 Digital is currently priced around £70 in the UK, while unfortunately, stock for the Pro model reviewed today hasn’t landed yet, and we will update this as soon as possible.
Overview
The DeepCool AK620 Digital Pro is a high-performance dual-tower air cooler. It boasts a sleek, all-black aesthetic with a prominent digital display on the top that shows real-time CPU temperature and usage. ARGB lighting strips on the sides of the top cover add a touch of customisation without being too in your face. The cooler features six copper heat pipes, a copper cold plate, and two 120mm fluid dynamic bearing (FDB) PWM fans for optimal heat dissipation and quiet operation. Wide compatibility with the latest Intel and AMD mainstream sockets makes it an easy choice for any popular CPU, and it comes with a user-friendly universal all-metal mounting system, so AMD or Intel are equally well taken care of.
Build Quality
DeepCool is known for its solid build quality, and the AK620 Digital Pro is no exception. The cooler feels substantial and well-engineered, and is quite heavy despite its compact size. The matte black paint finish on all metal parts gives it a premium look and feel. The fans are of high quality, featuring sturdy frames and anti-vibration mounts. The magnetic attachment of the digital display is a well-thought-out detail, making it easy to remove or reattach. However, the glossy plastic top panel is prone to fingerprints and scratches, requiring careful handling.
Digital Display and RGB
The standout feature of the AK620 Digital Pro is its integrated digital display, adding a unique and functional element to the cooler’s design. The display is controlled via a simple application that connects through an internal USB 2.0 header. While the display offers basic information, it’s not particularly advanced, but still a nice touch overall. The subtle ARGB lighting strips on the sides offer a nice ambient glow, and I much prefer a tasteful bit of RGB like this, rather than just slapping on RGB fans.
Cooling Performance
The AK620 Digital delivers impressive cooling performance. In testing, it kept pace with renowned coolers like the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 and even matched the DeepCool Assassin IV when optimised. While some larger AIO (All-In-One) liquid coolers may offer slightly better peak performance, the AK620 Digital Pro stands out as a solid-performing air cooler. Its dual-tower design and dual fans ensure efficient cooling even on our notoriously toasty Intel Core i9.
Acoustic Performance
The acoustic performance of the AK620 Digital Pro is generally good. While it might not be the absolute quietest cooler on the market, especially at maximum fan speeds, it strikes a decent balance between cooling power and noise levels, but unless you’re running a very high TDP CPU like we are, you can more than likely dial down the fan RPM for improved acoustics too.
Should I Buy One?
The DeepCool AK620 Digital Pro is an interesting option for those needing a high-performance air cooler with a unique aesthetic. Its excellent cooling capabilities make it suitable for power-hungry CPUs from both Intel and AMD, and the easy-to-use mounting kit makes for a quick installation. While alternatives to the AK620 Digital Pro offer similar performance and prices, it’s hard to argue with how good the AK620 looks compared to many of its rivals. The AK620 Digital offers a strong combination of performance, features, and visual appeal.
