DeepCool AS500 Air CPU Cooler Review

Installation

Starting with one of the most fundamental points, the manual provided with the DeepCool AS500 is a little lacking in terms of written instructions. Albeit, this is likely to do with the issue of language localization. Fortunately, this is more than made up for with the fact that the diagrams given are both excellent and clear in what you have to do.

As long as you take your time and pay attention, it would honestly be difficult to go wrong here!

Mounting

One of my biggest criticisms when it comes to mounting systems is when manufacturers attempt to re-invent the wheel. Put simply, there are some designs that simply work, and then there are cases where companies attempt to reinvent the wheel (something seemingly just for the sake of being different).

Fortunately, DeepCool has a really straight forward installation process with the AS500. If you have any experience with air coolers, you should find it practically intuitive and, if you have no experience at all, you can trust me when I say that this is about as easy as it gets!

Overall Thoughts

From out of the box and onto our test bench, it took us roughly 5-10 minutes to install the DeepCool AS500 cooler. In terms of comparisons, while we’ll freely admit to being very experienced in cooler installation, this is still a time that is significantly below average. As we noted above, this is largely due to the fact that DeepCool hasn’t overcomplicated this design.

Regarding the ARGB lighting – As we noted above, DeepCool does provide you with a manual controller if you motherboard is not sync capable. More so, however, you are also given adaptors for both MSI and Gigabyte motherboards which can, on some occasions (and particularly the latter), utilize unusual port designs. In a nutshell, DeepCool has you covered!

In terms of aesthetics, we think this actually looks really sleek and smart when installed. And although pending testing, it does also seem remarkably quiet. Speaking of testing though, it’s now time for us to see if the DeepCool AS500 performs anything close to as amazing as it looks! – We sure hope so!
