Diamond USB 3.0 to DVI/HDMI/VGA Multi-Display Adapter Review

Setting up this device is an incredible easy task. While I would typically advise using a USB 3.0 port on the back of the computer, to keep cables out of the way, I’ve installed mine at the front of the system so you can see how it works. The USB cable connects to the computer and the adapter. I have the DVI to HDMI adapter installed and a standard HDMI cable running from the adaptor to my monitor. Simply download the 18mb driver film from Diamonds website, or use the included CD-ROM is you still have a drive for one (few people do these days). I was able to install the cables, download and install the driver all within a few minutes. Once installed, the second display immediately came to life and defaulted to extended mode, with my native 4K resolution on my desktop monitor and 1920×1080 on the USB connected display.

It really is as simple as that, there’s nothing remarkable about it, nothing to complain about either. Of course, this isn’t going to be the right solution for gaming, but when it comes to putting eTeknix on my main display and reddit on the second display, the thing works beautifully. There’s really very little to say about the device, it just works as you would hope with significantly noticeable lag, no interference and the taskbar icon from the installed driver makes configuration a breeze. The drivers allow you to rotate the display output, change your resolutions from basic VGA all the way up to 1920 x 1080.
