Dishonored 2 is one of the first titles to be governed by Bethesda’s new review policy which raised fears about the game being a poor sequel. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case and the early reports seem very positive. However, the PC version is suffering from a number of technical issues including poor optimisation. As a result, users with decent hardware have encountered stutter, bizarre frame drops and poor performance even when using a 1080P display. Dishonored 2’s game director took to Twitter to address people’s concerns. As you can see, the game director is distressed about the PC issues:
Not only that, he claimed the studio deeply cares about the PC and the team is working on fixing the technical problems. He also added that Dishonored 2 is not a PC port:
Some people have criticised the optimisation based on the game’s graphical fidelity which shouldn’t be too demanding. Dishonored 2’s game director explained that a large portion of the performance demands stems from the AI, non-linear levels and audio propagation:
Once again, another major release on PC is affected by technical problems. While I admire Dishonored 2’s game director for directly answering questions and promising to fix the issues, it shouldn’t have been launched in this state. Hopefully, the upcoming patches will make the game much better on PC.
