Introducing Star Wars to Younger Audiences
Although revered by a hardcore fanbase, the only way to truly keep the Star Wars franchise alive is to reach new audiences. In Disney‘s perspective, this means reaching out to children and the next generation. Especially those who have not and will not have the same magical experience watching the original movies today. Which is why the media giant is repackaging the classic trilogy into a series of animated shorts. Best of all, these will be available for free online.
Titled ‘Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventure’, it will initially have a six episode run. It mixes a brand new animation style recreating classic scenes from the original films. Of course, this also includes the classic dialogue, music and sound effects remastered.
“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.” This statement comes from James Waugh, Lucasfilm‘s VP for franchise content and strategy.
