Dispatch Ending So Rare Not a Single Players Found It
AdHoc Studio, the creators of the choice-based game Dispatch and one of my personal games of the year, recently revealed that their game has a secret fourth endgame result that, according to them, no player has officially unlocked.
During an interview with Eurogamer, founders Nick Herman and Pierre Shorette discussed the different outcomes players can get for “your Robert.” Most players see one of three options: the True Hero, the Antihero, or the Everyman.
The Elusive Fourth Robert
Despite having a three-way moral scale, Herman confirmed there is a hidden fourth result, which the team made “really hard to get.”
He noted that unlocking the secret outcome is based on “gameplay performance” and requires perfecting the “non-RNG” elements of Dispatch. In other words, you need a flawless run, but Herman was tight-lipped on the specifics.
The Problem: It’s Probably Bugged
The reason AdHoc’s stats show zero unlocks might not be a lack of skill from players, but rather a bug.
“As anyone who was struggling with the platinum trophy knows, Dispatch isn’t bug-free, so there’s a chance that some players have beaten the game and just haven’t been awarded the proper ‘your Robert’ outcome.”
The Community Knows!
Shortly after this interview, the community went straight to work trying to figure out this puzzle. It seems the dedicated Dispatch community has already pieced together the requirements for the secret ending, suggesting it has actually been spotted before! This heavily supports the theory that the character state is likely bugged, which is why AdHoc’s official backend metrics haven’t registered any completions.
What We Think
It’s a fantastic way to encourage replayability, requiring a true perfectionist run to unlock. Now that the community has potentially cracked the code, we’re just waiting for the developers to patch the issue so players can finally get official credit for achieving the ultimate Dispatch ending.
Tell Me More
If you are interested in playing Dispatch for yourself, you can find the game over on Steam.
