Dobot Robotic Arm is a Factory for Your Home

A new Kickstarter campaign is aiming to bring the capabilities of a factory-like robotic arm into your home. The Dobot M1 can be an automated 3D printer, a laser engraver, a soldering iron, or even a product sorter, all at a price point far more affordable than its industrial cousins. The arm features interchangeable fittings for different tasks, has a superfine margin for precision, and has wireless connectivity.
“Dobot M1 is made to reverse one simple fact: industrial robotic arms are toooo expensive,” Dobot says. “With 0.02mm precision, velocity of 200 degrees per second, 1.5kg workload and 400mm maximum reach, Dobot M1 makes a perfect essence for a professional workspace, where you can do light manufacturing, and we managed to keep the price under surprising $2000.”
“Not only that, with features like self-developed user interface, wireless connectivity, handhold teaching, and multi-Dobot cooperation capability, we’ve provided the most user-friendly environment for self-employers and factories to build their own production platform,” the Kickstarter description adds.
The M1 is adept at 3D printing:
The Dobot M1 has blitzed its Kickstarter goal, raising $265,045 against its $100,000 pledge target with 31 days to go. While the early bird pledges have all been taken, the basic M1 kit is still available for $1,599.
