Drunk Man Orders A $1600 300 Mile Uber Ride

UberUber Drive Costs Drunk Man $1600

The Uber taxi service can be particularly helpful in getting you home, but they are perhaps not so cost-effective when your home is 300-miles away.

A drunk man from the US, however, found himself subject to a $1600 Uber ride after he ordered the taxi, then blacked out.

Black Out!

Firstly kids, drinking to the point that you can’t remember things isn’t good! Pretty much every instance of this occurring ends in regret, but admittedly, not often a $1600 bill.

In a report via CBS, a man from America did exactly that, however, claims that despite the bill he has no real regrets.

His Story

Kenneth Bachman from New Jersey, after a night of drinking, ordered an Uber to get him home. Now, his first mistake was ordering an XL taxi, despite the fact that it was just for himself. That is, however, just the beginning.

Mr. Bachman claims that the moment he stepped inside the cab, he can’t remember a thing, but it seems he ordered a ride to his home, not his actual home, but his hometown in West Virginia. Which, incidentally, was over 300 miles away.

Now, exactly why the driver didn’t question this, or at least more tersely is unclear, but regardless, off they went!

The moral of the story

Mr. Bachman claims that several hours later he woke up inside the cab, a little confused as to exactly where he was. That being said, however, it was a very sobering moment that between the surge charge, XL cab and distance, his ride ended up costing him over $1600.

Fortunately, here in the UK, it’s a bit tricky to order a ride that far, but even so, the moral is that while Uber can be useful, you might want to put the order in while you’re moderately sober or at least not cripplingly drunk.
