Dual Screen 17″ Laptop – out of this world?

Well when I first heard about this article, I genuinely thought someone had either gone mad or was trying to wind me up. While it is not too much of a shock that a laptop company would venture to wards this concept (one of the next ‘logical’ steps), they did however call it the ‘Spacebook’ – so you can imagine I was a little wary at first!

Some people, myself included, do love having more than one monitor for our computers as it in fact makes it easier to be more productive especially when writing articles like this. However, the Gscreen Spacebook has 2* 17.3″ screens, something which really does seem out of this world – not only does it have 2 displays they are both larger than most laptop displays on there own.

The cheaper model, currently available for pre-order in America is offered (with 50% off currently) at $2,395, and features dual 1920×1090 screens, with a Core i5 560m 2.66 GHz processor and 4GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. In terms of graphics it is using an NVIDIA GTS 250M with 1GB of memory and a modest 500GB 7,200 rpm HDD.

The more expensive model, available at $2,795, has double the RAM and also a slightly faster Core i7 740QM.

While we are only lucky enough to have one picture, it is certainly fairly eye-catching if a little weird. The laptop weighs around 4.5kg so not quite light-weight meaning you are less likely to want to take this on a train etc. It is more a slightly moveable desktop compared to a laptop – brilliant for those who work away from home and then want to bring their work home for instance.

Certainly is a nice idea, and could potentially look quite good, we hope they announce that they will be shipping outside the States very soon!
