Dumpster-Found Prototype with 4-Slot Cooling System Revealed to Be NVIDIA RTX 4090

Finally, a Reddit user who discovered a prototype of a supposedly more powerful NVIDIA RTX 4090 has tested the card. Originally found in a dumpster, this prototype has now been verified to be functional. However, it appears that this so-called NVIDIA RTX 4090 Ti or TITAN model, as named by the community, is essentially an RTX 4090 with very similar specifications—the only difference being a bulky 4-slot cooling system.

What Makes the Prototype Different?

As reported by VideoCardz, this prototype features a different BIOS than the final RTX 4090 FE model released by NVIDIA. The version on the prototype is 95.02.01.22.01, whereas the final model’s BIOS is 95.02.20.00.01. This BIOS discrepancy results in different clock speeds for the prototype. The Reddit user found that the base clock speed of the prototype is 2,115 MHz, with a turbo boost of 2,355 MHz. In comparison, the stock RTX 4090 model has a base clock speed of 2,235 MHz, and the turbo speed reaches 2,625 MHz.

Same TDP and Same Motherboard

The prototype also shares the same motherboard (PG147 SKU 330) and 450W TDP as the original RTX 4090 model. The key difference lies in the cooling system, which on this prototype, includes an impressive triple-fan design (one of the fans is located inside the heatsink). It seems that this more powerful heatsink design was eventually discarded in favor of a smaller card with higher clock speeds.

The user who found this card plans to send it to Gamer Nexus for further investigation, which should reveal more details about this intriguing prototype.
