Dune: Awakening Gets May 20th Release Date – Benchmarking Tool Available Now
Funcom has just revealed the release date for their upcoming title Dune: Awakening. The great news is that we won’t have to wait too much longer, with the gaming hitting PC on May 20th. What’s more, there’s even a new trailer for you to check out, which you can see above. However, a little closer to our heart here at eTeknix is the new benchmark and character creator tool, which is available to download right now! We do love a good benchmark here at eTeknix, it’s a large part of what we do, so I’ll definitely be checking that out later.
Dune: Awakening
Dune is an upcoming open-world survival crafting game set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis. Players will struggle to survive in this dangerous environment, battling not only the elements but also rival factions vying for control of the valuable spice, Melange. The game promises a blend of survival mechanics, exploration, and political intrigue, challenging players to adapt to the ever-shifting sands and navigate the complex social dynamics of Arrakis.
It features an in-depth character customisation, allowing players to tailor their skills and appearance, and the opportunity to build and manage their own refuge or even a powerful stronghold. Exploration of the vast, dynamic world is a core element, with shifting sandstorms and hidden secrets to discover. Combat will blend ranged and melee weapons, demanding strategic thinking and adaptation. Ultimately, players must forge their own destiny and potentially rise to power within the complex social and political landscape of Arrakis. In short, it sounds like most MMO games, really, but I think this has a lot of potential to be a really great one, so I hope they don’t screw up the launch.
Key Features
- Open-world survival crafting on Arrakis
- In-depth character customisation
- Base building and management
- Exploration of a dynamic world with shifting sandstorms
- Strategic combat blending ranged and melee weapons
- Intrigue and political manoeuvring within the Dune universe

Unreal Engine 5
Dune: Awakening is built using Unreal Engine 5, promising a visually impressive and immersive experience. Leveraging the engine’s advanced capabilities, the game will utilise features like Nanite for incredibly detailed geometry and Lumen for dynamic global illumination, creating realistic and atmospheric environments. The developers are also incorporating cutting-edge technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3, with planned support for DLSS 4’s Multi-Frame Generation from launch, ensuring smooth performance and stunning visuals even in the most demanding scenes.
What is strange, is they’ve not released any system requirements for the game yet, but with Nantie, and Lumen, it may be a bit on the demanding side. Thankfully, the benchmark tool can be downloaded here and should give you a good idea of how it’ll perform.
