Edifier has officially launched the S880DB MKII, a brand new set of Hi-Fi bookshelf speakers designed to succeed the popular S880DB. This latest model boasts a full overhaul, featuring an upgraded driver system, redesigned internal circuitry, and a host of new features aimed at providing a richer and more precise experience.
Enhanced Audio Performance and Features
The S880DB MKII is built from the ground up to deliver high-quality sound. The tweeter has been upgraded to a 1.25-inch titanium dome, a step up from the previous 1-inch model, and now includes a larger 25 mm voice coil and neodymium magnets. This is designed to provide crystal-clear highs with better detail. A new 3.75-inch mid-bass driver is also included to improve mid-range clarity and extend the low-frequency response down to 50 Hz.
Internal Design
Under the hood, the speakers are powered by high-performance chipsets from Texas Instruments and an XMOS XU216 processor, which enables advanced digital audio processing. This upgraded architecture supports high-resolution audio playback at 24-bit/96 kHz, with the digital interfaces handling resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz.
A key feature of the new model is its support for Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certifications. The built-in Bluetooth 5.3 receiver supports the LDAC codec, allowing for high-resolution wireless audio streaming up to 24-bit/96 kHz from compatible Android devices.
