With illusionary walls representing one of the many key mechanics of pretty much all the Soulsborne franchises, players often feel tempted to hit anything that looks mildly suspicious in the hope that it will disappear and either open up a shortcut or reveal some nice new loot! – It is, however, also something an inside joke within the community to place a sign on the floor in front of something that could be an illusionary wall (but isn’t) in an attempt to just get someone to hit it and find nothing but failure. And yes, I’ve done this myself on more than a few occasions.
Following a Reddit post by user ‘u/teristam‘, however, it seems that a number of the potential wall locations within Elden Ring are going to have to get revisited as it was found that one required 50 (YES, FIFTY) hits to reveal itself!
Exactly how this was discovered is more than a little unclear at the time of writing. It does, after all, require more than a little persistence to hit a wall 50 times expecting something different to eventually happen. Our best guess, however, is that the location of this was probably noted within the code. Again though, having hit it once, many who knew that might’ve presumed that something had gone wrong in that regard and simply moved on.
Apparently though, if you’re patient enough, a shortcut awaits you in Volcano Mansion!
Although Elden Ring is still less than a month old, given its open-world design there are undoubtedly still absolutely masses of secrets to be found in this game. Let’s just hope that some of them are significantly less obtuse than banging your weapon against a wall fifty times in the hope of something happening!
