Electronic Arts CEO’s Pay Rises by $5 Million Amid Salary Cuts for Workers
These days, companies are using various methods to reduce their expenses, including cutting employees’ salaries. However, Electronic Arts has shown an interesting practice — while the pay for regular workers is being steadily reduced, the head of the company is receiving higher bonuses.
CEO’s Increased Salary
Journalist Stephen Totilo pointed out that EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, earned $30.5 million in cash and stock payments for the 12 months ending on March 31 of this year. This is $5 million more than what Wilson received during the 2024 financial year.
At the same time, the pay for regular employees changed in the opposite direction. According to EA, the average annual income for full-time employees in 2024 was $117,000. The previous year, the average salary was $149,000. However, this figure includes the salary of all employees (including management), so the average worker in 2024 earned less than $117,000.
The decrease in average pay is likely due to layoffs and EA’s recent failures, such as Dragon Age: The Veilguard not meeting the company’s expectations.
In other news, Electronic Arts has officially informed its employees that permanent remote work will no longer be allowed, and the company is requiring workers to return to the office.
