Electronic Arts Will Take Three Games Offline in January 2026

Electronic Arts (EA) will start the new year by shutting down a few old games that no longer have enough active players. In January 2026, the company will turn off the servers for three different titles, including one from BioWare.
Let’s take a look at all the details, including the exact shutdown dates for each game.
Anthem Will Go Offline First
The first game to go offline will be Anthem on January 12, 2026.
The multiplayer action RPG, released in 2019 and developed by BioWare, was one of the studio’s biggest failures. Development on the game officially stopped back in 2021, and it was removed from digital stores on August 15, 2025.
The second game to shut down is The Sims Mobile, which will go offline on January 24, 2026. The title, released a year before Anthem, was a mobile adaptation of The Sims 4. It was taken off app stores on October 21, 2025.
Finally, NBA Live 19 will be shut down on January 30, 2026. This was the last entry in EA’s basketball series. Fans continue to hope that EA will revive the NBA Live franchise to compete once again with NBA 2K. The game was removed from stores in October 2025.
In other news, Electronic Arts management has strongly pushed its 15,000 employees to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools across virtually all tasks, from game development to managerial advice, for over a year.
