A Closer Look
From the outside, there’s not really much to say about the 4K60 S+, it’s a small-ish black rectangle device. I do like that they’ve given it a funky design though, there’s an etched in detail to it that stops it looking too boring.
Along the front, you’ll find a big record light/button, the SD card slot and a line in for a microphone. It’s as simple as that really.
Down the side, a little Elgato logo, as the 4K60 S+ product name, so you don’t forget what you own.
It is a simple thing, but for a rectangle, it’s aesthetically pleasing. I like the big Elgato logo on the top too, it looks stylish.
Around the back, you’ll find a pair of USB C ports and a pair of HDMI ports. Now, if you’re recording to SD Card you only need Power and HDMI In. However, if you want to use pass-through for using a console, you’ll hook up your TV to the Out port. If you’re on a PC, you can likely just use two output on your GPU, one to your monitor, one to the Elgato.
On the bottom, there are two thick rubber strips giving it some ground clearance. There’s also ventilation here, albeit just passive as the device has no active fans or cooling, so it will run silently.
