Most PC building guides out there will tell you not to cheap out on the PSU, and that’s very good advice in my opinion. Choosing the right PSU can be a bit confusing for beginners, but with CPU and GPU manufacturers constantly trying to reduce the power consumption of their products, it’s a safe bet to go with a PSU that delivers somewhere between 550 and 650W even for relatively powerful rigs. The Enduro FM1 Gold Series power supplies were recently unveiled by SilentiumPC, and they were designed with silence and reliability in mind.
With measurements such as 150 mm x 140 mm x 86 mm, they are also quite compact, which means that they will fit in small PC cases without too many issues. The fan measures 120mm, but it stays off until a specific load or temperature limit is reached. The 550W model features a pair of 6+2 pin PCIe power connectors, while the 650W variant has four. Both versions come with four Molex connectors, eight SATA power connectors, 4+4 pin EPS and 24-pin ATX. Other highlights include single +12V rail innards, Active PFC and electrical protection circuitry such as OCP, OLP, SCP, OVP and UVP. No word on pricing just yet, but we do know that SilentiumPC is offering five-year warranties on these products.
