Enermax Fulmo-ST Midi-Tower Chassis Review

The Fulmo ST is absolutely packed with features, I was expecting it to be a great product but I feel it has exceeded my expectations, there are a few minor issues I have with it but not a single one of them is a deal breaker for me, this is still a fantastic product for the price range and it packs all the modern high-end features any system builder could ask for.

Lets get the minor issues out of the way shall we, the cable routing cut-out on the interior top left is behind the motherboard, this makes routing cables here tricky and required the motherboard to be removed or pulled forwards, fortunately there is a smaller hole in the top middle but this is more required for top mounted cooling than motherboard power cables, which can often be quite bulky. The dust filters on the bottom are just a simple mesh, while they will do the job just fine it would have obviously been nice to have slide in-out filters as they’re much easier to maintain. Being able to remove the middle storage bay and the small SSD bay is great, so I can’t understand why you can’t also remove the bottom HDD bay also. I guess you can remove it with an Allen Key but it’s not intended to be a feature in the same way as the other storage bays.

As for minor issues, that is it! As I said they’re nothing major and hardly deal breakers in any way, but certainly some ideas for Enermax for a future model. Yet for the few minor faults, there are a huge array of great things to say about this chassis.

The overall design is fantastic, I love the matching shape of the left and right side panels, one with a cool dark tinted window while the other provides better cable management space. All the major adjustable and removable components are fitted with thumb screws to allow for easy access and installations. The HDD bays are modular to allow better component compatibility and there is more than enough room for a multi GPU configuration with plenty of room spare for good airflow.

The cooling capabilities are great too and it’s nice to see some decent fans pre-installed with 2 x 140mm in the front and 1 x 120mm in the back, all hooked up to a decent quality slide-fan-controler. Yet there is more room for internal fans and top mounted cooling that should offer more than enough options for everything from a mid range system to enthusiast grade components.

Build quality is faultless throughout, featuring a mixture of high quality metal panels and high quality plastics with a premium finish and texture inside and out, making this look and feel like a premium product, which it is.

eTeknix says: “Enermax have a really strong product here are while there are no shortage of options within this price range, the Fulmo ST is as good or better than anything else out there, if you like the design and it has the features you require, you will be very happy with the Fulmo ST.”

Pros

  • Great design
  • Premium build quality
  • Robust feature set
  • Modular storage
  • Great cooling capabilities & fan controller

Cons

  • No major cons, although bottom dust filters could be of a better design
