Enermax iVektor Mid-Tower Chassis Review

Final Thoughts

Pricing

The Enermax iVektor is available in both black and white editions, with prices around £65-70 from most retailers. At time of writing, stock was quite limited, but there are still some great deals around if you look for them. This isn’t the most competitive price ever, but it’s about on par with offerings from various rivals and you do get a nice amount of features for your money.

Overview

This isn’t the most innovative chassis in the world, but it was never really designed to be either. On the inside, it’s a pretty straightforward mid-tower chassis, comparable to just about every other mid-tower on the market. There’s a lot of space for high-end graphics cards, there’s ample clearance for large tower coolers, as well as enough fitting space for a couple of water cooling radiators if you wanted to build something high-end. Cooling certainly isn’t going to be a problem here and with the addition of a fan control switch, you can tailor cooling performance and noise ratios to suit your needs.

Cable management is superb throughout and while there’s a good amount of space behind the motherboard already, the extended shape of the side panel makes cable management easy, especially for those of you who tend to simply stuff all the cables out of the way.

Storage is well catered for, with three 5.25″ drive bays and a mixture of both 3.5″ and 2.5″ drive bays. Clip on rails are provided for every hard drive bay and you’ll never need to reach for a screw driver to install or remove a drive with this chassis, making it very user-friendly in that respect. however, I think that three 5.25″ drive bays is a little excessive these days, but the extra height of the chassis may as well be used as it does give good clearance for any top mounted cooling.

The design is really cool and while looks are very subjective, the funky design on the front and top of the chassis is more than worthy of any gaming setup. The only gripe with the design would be that the dust filter system is a little basic. Sure it’s going to do the job, but a few slide-out filters would have made the system a lot more practical to maintain over time.

Pros

  • Unique design
  • Pre-installed fans
  • Fan controller built-in
  • Lots of cable routing space
  • Room for long graphics cards and power supplies
  • Tool free storage bays
  • Water cooling support

Cons

  • Dust filters could be slide-out rather than clip-in
  • Expansion slot screws could be made a little more accessible.

“Enermax have done a really nice job of the iVektor and it’s a great chassis overall with only a few very minor flaws. If you need a very capable chassis with a unique exterior design, the iVektor is certainly worth considering for your next build, although there are a lot of alternatives on the market that may prove difficult competition for this chassis.”
