Overboard Waterproof iPad Case

Next up is the Overboard Waterproof iPad Case. The reason why we chose to review this product is because we are always using our iPad, both inside and out, so it makes sense to try out a waterproof case. It is class 5 rated, which means it is suitable for using up to a depth of 6m – ideal if you’re snorkeling  but then again, why would you take an iPad with you? It’s not like the camera is any good!  The case is actually guaranteed to work up to the rated depth, with no leaks – so if one ever did crop up, you can send it back and get a replacement.

The case is essentially a clear plastic fronted pouch with a bulky plastic seal at the top. The case also boasts a shoulder strap or a loop on the back for using one handed. The clear plastic front also works well with the capacitive touch screens. The back is slightly padded and the corners have extra protection in case of any knocks.

When it came to testing the waterproof case, we were a little nervous about putting our iPad in it, but the guarantee that Overboard provide you with does give you that piece of mind. Inserting the iPad is very easy, you just push the clips to the side and the case opens up. Once the iPad is in, you simply slide the clips back again, which secures the waterproof seal. Luckily, when we first put the iPad in the case, it started to rain, so what better excuse than to take the case for a spin in the wet. Outside in the rain, the case did it’s job perfectly and kept the iPad dry without limiting any of it’s functions.

Whilst the front of the case gets a little getting used to, and that you have to make sure you press fairly hard to make contact with the screen, we had no issues operating the device. To take the testing up a notch, we decided to fill a bath up to the top with water and then drop the case in. Remarkably, all it did was make a big splash then it floated back to the surface unscathed and still fully operational.

We’re often out in the rain trying to find a certain venue or navigating the streets of Cologne so having a waterproof case for our iPad is perfect for what we want – or even if we just want to take a nice, long hot bath and watch a movie or something on BBC iPlayer. At around £30, it’s hardly a steep price to pay to keep liquid out of your expensive tablet, whilst maintaining full functionality. With the guarantee it also sets your mind at ease, that your item is properly protected from the elements. So for all these reasons, we’re pleased to award the Overboard Waterproof iPad case with our highest award possible:
