Evercool Buffalo CPU Cooler Review

Results
The results of our tests aren’t the most conclusive. They show a significant upgrade to that of the AMD stock cooler as the temperatures are considerably lower. However compared to the Akasa 968 the Evercool Buffalo performs nearly as well, although for some of the areas it performed a little bit worse than the Akasa 968. As expected, the Akasa Venom still dominated our testing and is considerably better performance wise than the Evercool Buffalo.

From this we can only conclude that the Evercool Buffalo is a good CPU cooler that is certainly a good improvement on the stock coolers that come with CPU’s. This is mainly due to a much larger heatsink and a large 10cm fan. This cooler also takes advantage of some seriously sized heat pipes and a lot of fins. Unfortunately, although not an official test, we did also find that their is a noise factor with this fan which is nearly as loud as the stock cooler – which is surprising for the 10cm fan. Unfortunately this means I’d favour the Akasa 968 over this device. On a side note, the connector of the Evercool Buffalo is only a 3-pin meaning you have no speed control over the fan and as such it will always run flat out which leaves you with a loud buzzing day and night – even if your computer is doing nothing.

However if you are looking for a more powerful and quieter alternative for not much more money the Akasa Venom remains one of the best buys you could make.
