EVGA Preparing GTX 1060 6GB Miner Edition Video Card

There has been a resurgence of interest when it comes to GPU mining recently, with many users clamoring to build custom mining rigs. While we were at Computex, a trusted source informed us that a custom EVGA GTX 1060 6GB Miner Edition video card is actually going to be released in July. Since this is a video card strictly for mining it, it will not have a display output (so you cannot use it for gaming). As for specifications, it comes with a 1506MHz core clock that boosts up to 1708MHz. The memory clock runs at 8008MHz effective on a 192-bit memory bus.

What we could not confirm was whether this is going to be a limited run on select market. What is known is that this will be sold in Asia and that there will be restrictions on warranty offered. This is the first information we have of an NVIDIA partner creating a special card. Tech site Goldfries confirms the arrival of a miner edition video card on mid-July, although the specific brand is not mentioned. They reveal the price to be RM1220 which is actually lower than the typical GTX 1060 price in Malaysia.

We have reached out to EVGA for confirmation whether this version will hit UK shores.

Sapphire RX 470 Miner Edition

The idea of a special “miner edition” video card is not new. Sapphire actually introduced a special RX 470 in select markets. It only had a single display output connector using DVI-D. There are many pre-conceived notions about mining and people tend to think that this is an easy way to make money. However, the return in investment is not always guaranteed and it depends on several factors.  If you would like more information about GPU mining, there are several useful guides online. Check out this quick video from Goldfries for example, explaining the realities of GPU mining:
