While the design isn’t new, as a matter of fact, it’s been circling for quite some time now, EVGA has finally revealed it entirely.
“I wanted a graphics card that overclocked to hell and back without limits,” said Vince “k|ngp|n” Lucido. “With the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified, we were able to reach GPU clockspeeds at over 1.6GHz.”
They have obviously been working at it real good, and have certainly given the 580 chip a run for its money.
“With the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified, we focused on the key elements that the GPU and Memory need when overclocking. Power, stability, noise ripple reduction and extreme OC mode without limits. The design was created with overclocking in mind.” Said Illya “TiN” Tsemenko.
Now I’m sure you’re all interested in the specs, so let’s start by the outside, with a low profile two slot design, one fan where you would find it on the reference, although the shape in itself has been redesigned and been given an asymmetrical look, could this help in improving cooling?
The chip of the beast is, as stated, the NVIDIA GTX 580, featuring its 512 CUDA Cores, with the GPU running at 855 MHz and the Shader Clock at 1710 MHz. Available in both a 1.5GB and a 3GB version 384 bit GDDR5, they’re running at effective speeds of 4212 MHz with a memory bandwidth of 202.1 GB/s. Obviously this can be overclocked as it is exactly what it’s made for.
EVGA have also made a video about their new product:
The EVGA GTX 580 Classified is available for $599.99 for the 3GB version while the 1.5GB version is available on pre-order for $549.99. Newegg are having a limited offer by giving a free version of the Batman Arkham game with the purchase (3GB).
