Evil Dead: The Game Is Officially Disappearing from Digital Stores, But Servers Will Stay Active
Saber Interactive has confirmed the rumors from the past few days. The game Evil Dead: The Game has started to disappear from digital stores. Players noticed that the game was no longer available for purchase in places like Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store. This raised suspicions that the game might be shutting down. However, Saber Interactive has shared some good news: the servers will remain active.
Game Still Playable for Owners
This week, players could no longer buy the multiplayer game Evil Dead: The Game in Epic Games Store and PlayStation Store, which made people worry about the future of the game. It’s still available in Microsoft Store, but not on Steam. Saber Interactive confirmed that the game is being removed from digital stores, but players who already own it will still be able to play it. Players just need to download the game from their purchase history.
The studio expressed its thanks to the community, saying: “We want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us, whether they joined from the start or more recently.”
The Game’s Release
Evil Dead: The Game was released in 2022 and is nearing its third anniversary. The removal of the game from stores suggests that Saber Interactive might not have renewed the rights to the game, which was based on the Evil Dead movies directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell.
The game had a strong start, selling more than half a million copies within its first week. However, its popularity dropped after that. It was given for free on Epic Games Store, added to PlayStation Plus, and a planned Nintendo Switch version was canceled.
