Facebook could help you sell your BWM!

After it’s launching a little over a year ago, the Facebook marketplace has become a convenient, if low-profile place to sell your goods. Undercutting eBay and being a lot more accessible, the social media site has successfully carved its little niche into the 2nd hand goods market.

Based on this success, Facebook has announced plans to significantly bolster its service. Such plans include a significant increase in sales categories and in addition, a major enhancement and overhauling of its car sales aspect.

The announcement comes with a lot of other Facebook news, including the tentative release of 4K video support.

Facebook hopes that the boost to the marketplace might mean that even more people start taking the medium seriously.

Improving sales to tempt more customers!

I must confess until very recently I was entirely unaware that Facebook had a ‘classified advert’ section. When I did find it, however, I thought it was nice and practical, but still, I had other go-to websites. Put simply for a car I go to Autotrader and for everything else I go to eBay.

Even John Romero sold his original copy of Doom 2 on eBay.

The announcement, via CNET of the plans to boost Facebook’s marketplace, is, therefore, I suspect, hoping to target people like myself.

As can be seen in the image above, some of the planned changes include a far more detailed searchability. Including made, model, year and specification. Something which is very common to most car selling websites, but not currently to the Marketplace.

The overhaul of the system does clearly indicate that Facebook wants to compete with eBay and Craigslist.

What do you think? Would or have you ever sold anything via Facebook marketplace? Would you ever consider buying or selling something as substantial as a car through this? – Let us know in the comments!
