Fan Project Shows Potential of Silent Hill Unreal Engine 5 Remake

Will Konami ever decide to officially revisit the world of Silent Hill? Well, outside of the remits of Pachinko machines, the frustrating answer to that question still apparently remains no. At least, not for the time being. – Don’t get us wrong though, the news on this front hasn’t been entirely negative. Last summer there were some pretty strong rumours that Konami had potentially been exploring the possibility of getting back into video games. Something that potentially took a big step forward when a deal with ‘Blooper’ was announced that, at least in theory, gave the developer access to all of Konami’s highly sought after (but pretty much entirely inactive) gaming library.

In terms of a full-blown official Silent Hill remake though? Well, in a nutshell, and on a strictly official level, all things are currently quiet on the Eastern front!

Following a reveal by ‘TeaserPlay‘, however, a new concept has been posted online showcasing just how amazing a Silent Hill Remake could look when utilising the potency of Unreal Engine 5.

Silent Hill Remake – Unreal Engine 5 Concept

Now before you get too excited, we should note that this isn’t another fan project that’s probably going to be doomed to failure or the Sword of Damocles (Konami’s lawyers). – Instead, what ‘TeaserPlay‘ has done here is to showcase the concept of just how potentially amazing this remake could look if Konami was ever going to officially do it themselves.

So, just to hammer the point categorically home, ‘TeaserPlay’ has made it abundantly clear they have zero plans or intentions to continue work on this. – This has, for all intents and purposes, been created to hopefully get Konami’s attention (in a good way). – You know, in the hopes that it’ll help force a decision for them to either shit or get off the pot when it comes to their gaming IPs.

What Do We Think?

For a fan project, this Silent Hill ‘Remake’ in Unreal Engine 5 looks absolutely amazing. The only sad part is that this is just a concept. – With modern consoles and better gaming engines though, this only highlights just how much potential remains in the Silent Hill franchise. Be it a remake of the origin, or something brand new!

And in this regard, I think it’s fairly safe to say that the community would happily take either. – Hell, at this point even a ‘Downpour’ would probably be happily received as at least a sign that this franchise isn’t entirely dead! – For the moment though, all we have is work like this. – If you do, therefore, want to show its creator some love, you can check out their YouTube channel via the link here!
