FBC: Firebreak Faces Slow Launch on Steam with Low Player Numbers and Negative Reviews

FBC: Firebreak, the latest release from Remedy, the development studio behind Alan Wake 2, had a slow start on Steam. Launched today, it reached a peak of 1,992 players but is already seeing a decline, with only 1,467 players currently online (as of the time of writing). Furthermore, user reviews are mostly negative, with only 48% of the fewer than 250 reviews published so far praising the game.

What Isn’t Working?

One of the most frequent complaints is the lack of content, despite FBC: Firebreak being priced at $39.99. Many users have pointed out the existence of more substantial free-to-play titles.

For instance, user LynxarA explains: “5 missions, 3 levels of access each, 2 missions later this year. I think it’s around 6 hours of missions, like Left 4 Dead.”

Other reviews echo the same sentiment, suggesting the game is not ready for launch, even stating that it would have been better to release it in early access.

Other Common Criticisms

Other frequent criticisms include the lack of variety in enemies, unimpressive bosses, progression tied to the battle pass, the absence of weapons, and more. In short, we have a title that has been received very negatively by the community, which didn’t expect this from a prestigious studio like Remedy.

For the rest, we remind you that FBC: Firebreak is available for PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5.
