Having recently reviewed the ID-Cooling SE-224-XT ARGB air cooler, we noted during the review that a budget-friendly ‘Basic’ alternative was also available and, based on popular demand, we decided to get into it and have an up-close look at ID-Coolings cost-friendly cooling option!

As the ‘Basic’ name might suggest, this is effectively a cut-down version of the ARGB alternative that should feature all of the performance without the ARGB bells and whistles. That is, at least, the theory. As such, presumably, this should (in our testing) perform just as well as its (moderately more expensive) counterpart. We won’t know, however, until we give it a go!

For more in-depth specifications, please visit the official product page via the link here!

The front of the packaging goes big and bold with a nice clear image of the cooler front and center.

In terms of features or any kind of advertising goodness, in truth, the packaging as a whole is very minimal. So, in truth, you don’t get told a lot about this cooler aside from the image on the front. So I guess you need to glean as much out of that as you can.

In terms of accessories, it is about as basic as the product name would suggest. On the plus side, however, you are given everything you could need and in terms of Intel and AMD, each is bagged within separate containers to ensure you only pull out the ones you need!

Presuming that you had internet access at some point between 2003-2005, you almost certainly encountered the above viral image. For those of you struggling to make it out, that is indeed a person duct-taped to the ceiling playing Counterstrike.
Taking place at a LAN party (something of a rather outdated concept) for many years people were unsure if it was legitimate, a prank or just a successful attempt to create one of the internet’s earliest viral images. It seems, however, that all of those questions are going to be answered!
Following the release of a trailer video, it has been confirmed that the ‘duct-tape LAN party guy’ meme is going to get a full-blown documentary. The film will feature interviews with many people in attendance including the man himself who was stuck to the ceiling when the picture was taken.
It will, of course, also look into the early days of co-operative PC gaming. A time that was, I promise you, a damn sight more complicated than it is today. Thank the lord!
While no exact release date has been confirmed in the trailer (let alone on which format it will be released (probably YouTube)) they have gone as far as to commit to a 2020 release date.
I must admit though, I’m really looking forward to this one. It was a meme that represented both a time and rough-edgedness in PC gaming that has long since vanished. I’m kinda really nostalgic now for my friend to set up his server (located within a cardboard box) again for a few quick rounds of Battlefield 2.
Rest assured though, I have my popcorn ready!

When it was originally showcased at E3, Watch Dogs looked to be something of a pretty significant game-changer in terms of graphical quality seen from games on the PC platform. When it actually was released, however, it didn’t look anything near as good as the original video.
It was, of course, subsequently revealed that Ubisoft had (very deliberately) watered-down the PC port of the game. Specifically, so that the PS4 and Xbox One versions would look better. It has, however, always left something of a bitter taste in the mouths of those who purchased the PC version (based on the trailer) and expected to be blown away by it. Put simply, Watch Dogs looked average. At best!
Well, thanks to a brand new mod, we may now (finally), after 6 years since the game launched, actually have something that looks as good (if not better) than the original Ubisoft release.
The release of a new ‘Natural & Realistic Lighting mod’ (as shown in these 3 videos) makes Watch Dogs look absolutely amazing! Better still, for those of you with fairly beefy graphics cards, the mod also supports ray tracing. Rather than those seen in the Nvidia 20XX cards, however, this is done via post-processing and, as such, should work on most graphics cards. Albeit, and as above, don’t attempt this on your 1050 Ti.
As you can see in these videos, however, the results achieved in this mod are absolutely stunning!
I daresay that more than you a few of you reading this may likely have Watch Dogs loitering on your Uplay account. As such, if you do want to give it a try, then you can download it (and learn more) via the link here!
It may not completely solve the problems this game had, but boy does it make it look 1000 times better! If only Ubisoft had gone the distance with this PC port…

With the launch of the Google Stadia late last year, so far the streaming-based console hasn’t proven to be very successful. While there are various reasons given for this from the community, one of the most consistent is that there simply isn’t enough games offered on it.
In a report via Kotaku, however, it seems that the issue isn’t with developers, but potentially with Google themselves.
In a number of reports from various developers and publishers, they have all claimed that while they would be more than happy to bring their releases to the Stadia, Google is being a bit stingy in paying the money they want.
Now, while these sources have (understandably) chosen to remain anonymous, if this is true, and boils down to Google not being willing to pay to significantly improve the platform. Specifically, in terms of expanding its limited games library. Put simply, if this is true, and this trend continues, things do not bode well for the future!

Playing devil’s advocate, it is entirely possible that these developers and publishers want too much money. That is, however, as much benefit as I am willing to give Google.
Given that their Stadia is seemingly failing, they should be throwing money at it! Specifically, to attempt to make this as popular as possible. Hell, I’d buy one if I thought it was worth it. At the time of writing though, with such a limited gaming library (and very little of interest on the horizon), it seems that the Stadia may be doomed to failure!

]]>
Atomic Heart first came onto our gaming radar back in mid-2018 and, I must admit, I had largely forgotten about it over the last few months. That may, of course, have been something to do with the fact that the originally planned 2019 release date was missed. Don’t be fooled though, Atomic Heart is definitely on the way!
To provide you with a little proof of that, the developer ‘Mundfish‘ has just released a brand new teaser trailer which is every bit as mildly disturbing as I expected!
So, have you actually heard about this game? Well, if not, the basic premise is that it will be a post-apocalyptic style first-person game with more than a few Soviet influences. Something of a semi-cross between Fallout, Metro Exodus and Bioshock which sounds pretty awesome to me!
The official description of the game reads as follows:
“Atomic Heart is an adventure first-person shooter, events of which unfold in an alternative universe, during the high noon of the Soviet Union. The main character of the game is a special agent, who was sent to a highly secret object by the Soviet government after it went radio silent.
Soviet setting with a pitch of insanity, action-packed gameplay and a thrilling story will keep you entertained for the whole duration of your journey into the world of Atomic Heart.
Unfold the secrets, restore peace and order, and show the Motherland what you got!”

Atomic Heart looks like an amazing (if more than mildly disturbing) upcoming game release. Admittedly, I’m not much of a fan of scary games, but with this confirmed to have support for Nvidia RTX features (such as ray tracing and DLSS) I may (unfortunately) have to try this one out simply for the sake of benchmarking!
Atomic Heart is scheduled (all going well) to release for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 at some point this year. You can check out the official Steam website via the link here!

It has been nearly three years now since Nintendo launched its Switch console. How has it done? Well, if sales figures are anything to go by, it has proven to be a huge success for the company. Suddenly all the mistakes of the Wii-U are forgotten. Well, at least by those that didn’t actually buy one.
If you were hoping, however, that Nintendo was planning on something new and exciting for 2020, then I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed!
In a report via CNET, Nintendo has confirmed that, by and large, they are still more than happy with the existing version/s of the Switch. There was, of course, last year a semi-revised version of the console released. In basic terms, however, it was simply a less-expensive alternative that was reasonably smaller than the main system. A ‘budget’ Switch for want of a better word.
With many hoping that Nintendo would consider a new and updated version of the system, however, put simply if they do plan to do it, it’s not going to happen this year!

Does the Nintendo Switch really need a new and improved version? Not really. Then again, however, as has been seen with systems such as the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, stronger alternatives to the base system can often prove to be a hit with consumers.
For me though, I think the decision to not jump at the chance to launch a new version is probably wise. While that doesn’t mean to say that Nintendo has had issues with the console (and particularly the controllers) they had a lot riding on the success of the Switch and, so far, things have been going very well for them. You do, therefore, wonder whether they would ultimately risk derailing that progress. I, personally, think not.

]]>
The various refund policies of online game retailers have always been a contentious subject. Earlier this week, however, GOG.com (Good Old Games) revised its system to what could potentially be the most liberal (for consumers) out there.
In a report via Eurogamer, however, it seems that the new refund policy has many developers worried that, in this instance, it’s way too open to exploitation.
So, what is the new policy? Well, prior to this GOG only refunded games if the user had either not downloaded them or had logged zero hours. The new refund system, however, is pretty much on the opposite end of the scale.
Not only can you download and play the game/s, but you can do so as much as you want and still claim a refund as long as its within 30-days. Yeah, you’re beginning to see why developers are worried about this being abused, right?…
“Everyone at GOG believes in a ‘gamers-first’ approach. The latest update to our voluntary Refund Policy adds another piece to this customer-friendly experience. And it all sums up in one sentence: starting now, you can get a full refund up to 30 days after purchasing a product, even if you downloaded, launched, and played it. That’s it.”
Well, I don’t know about this one.
— Rami Ismail (@tha_rami) February 27, 2020
30 days is a lot more than I feel is necessary to evaluate a game, and a lot more than almost all games take to complete if you play them for an hour daily.
Young me would definitely abuse the hell out of this. https://t.co/kKVnZpwboj
Honestly? While it is, without a doubt, one of the best policies for consumers, it has probably gone too far. I mean, let’s be real here, I can see a lot of people essentially using this as a means of getting 30 days gaming for free. Perhaps even longer considering GOG.com operates on a DRM-Free system.
The rabbit hole does apparently, get deeper though. If the reports are correct, then GOG didn’t actually tell developers about this new policy until it had already been implemented. Something that has got many of them perhaps in something of a semi-panic mode. For me though, the bottom line is that while this is clearly a very well-intentioned policy, it has nothing but disaster written all over it!

With the current panic over the Coronavirus epidemic, it’s hardly surprising to hear that many people have begun looking at ways in which that fear can be exploited. Well, more specifically, offering people false hope with supposed curative remedies and semi-dubious preventative tools.
In a report via TechSpot, however, Amazon has put the hammer down on their website. And pretty hard too!
In a mass banning action (that is still ongoing), Amazon is looking to remove any product from its website which has specifically altered its description in order to potentially appeal to those looking to avoid the Coronavirus. This also includes products to which the sellers have placed significant price hikes.
Now, it goes without saying that the vast majority of sellers that did this were merely looking to tap into the hysteria. In the report, however, it has been suggested that some retailers of face masks (for example) had increased the product price by as much as 300%. In other words, price gouging!

It’s actually refreshingly pleasant to see Amazon taking such a pro-active stance on this. Quite simply, while they’re always happy to sell products, including those that can help prevent the spread of diseases, they’re not going to stand-by and allow the Coronavirus panic to lead to price gouging of their consumers.
There will, of course, be a few products that still manage to slip the net. The good news is though that at least Amazon is on the case!

]]>
Most PC owners are usually happy if their game will run at around 60 frames per second. Well, presuming they have the graphics setting at the level they want. There are, of course, instances where you may want something higher though. For example, if you have a pretty high spec monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate for example.
In a report via PCGamesN, however, Doom Eternal developer iD Software has suggested something pretty amazing about their game. Specifically, they believe that the game is capable of running at 1000 FPS. No, I didn’t accidentally type an extra zero there either!
Utilizing the latest version of their hallmark engine, iD software believes that they have Doom Eternal so well optimized for the PC that, in theory, it could run a game at up to 1000 frames per second.
Now, of course, actually achieving this is something of a fanciful dream. There is no monitor that supports that framerate, let alone any standard PC hardware that would (even theoretically) manage that workload. Put simply, even if this was possible, you’d see masses of tearing! iD Software is, however, confident that, at least in theory, it could be possible!
“This game, if you have the hardware right, it could hit 1000 frames-per-second, that’s the max we have. There’s really no upper limit. I’ve had some hardware that we built locally just for testing and we had scenes running at 400 frames-per-second.
Going forward this game will hold up for many years, and give you really amazing opportunities to leverage that hardware.”

To me, it sounds like iD Software wants to turn Doom Eternal into something of the ‘Crysis’ game of this generation. Admittedly, there is something rather curious about wondering if we will be gaming at 1000 FPS at some point in the future. As far as I can tell though, we’re a long way off that point.
Oh, and feel free to insert your ‘the eyes can only see up to 24 fps’ memes in the comment. I don’t mind, but it sure does annoy the hell out of parts of the community 😀

With the release of the 2019 smartphone sales figures, it hardly needed saying that Apple was going to do pretty well. The results presented, however, perhaps best express just what a dominance the company still has on the market.
How well did they do? Well, of the top 10 smartphones sold in 2019, 6 of the models were created by Apple. This includes, and by a pretty huge margin, the top spot too!

So, seeing the Apple iPhone XR at the top of the list isn’t overly surprising if we’re being honest. Despite launching in 2018 (as a trio of product launches), it remains one of the most relevant and cheapest of their ‘current-gen’ smartphones available. Put simply, the only way you’d probably find a less-expensive new Apple smartphone was if you dropped to the 8. A phone which, incidentally, is 6th in this list!
What is surprising, however, is just how well the iPhone 11 has done. When you consider that this only launched in September 2019, in less than 4 months, this racked up enough sales to jump it to 2nd place in the charts! If Apple iPhone sales are flagging, then this survey clearly doesn’t reflect that!

I must admit that I’m not a huge fan of Apple and, in terms of operating systems, I vastly prefer Android. If you were, however, under the impression that companies such as Samsung or Huawei, etc. were making any significant inroads into Apple’s dominance, these charts would clearly seem to suggest otherwise.
While mentioning them though, I must admit though, I was mildly surprised to not see Huawei make the list. I mean, if I was going to buy a new smartphone, I think I’d give their models a check. Who knows though, maybe its consumer fear over spying or maybe 2020 will see some big changes!

If you’re a fan of isometric adventure games, then I daresay the recently launched ‘Beautiful Desolation’ has come to your attention. If it hasn’t, let me give you a quick rundown. This is essentially an indie-gaming project that looks to combine elements of RPG, puzzle-solving, character interaction and combat. Think of it as a gorgeously detailed mash-up of the classic Fallout and Diablo games.
The game does, however, have a pretty big problem at the moment. And its name is piracy. In a report via DSOGaming, however, the developers have issued a statement in which, they hope, the consciences of those who do own a dodgy copy might be poked a little.

The Brotherhood, the developers who created Beautiful Desolation, has issued a formal statement to their community. Put simply, they are aware that pirated copies exist. Worse, that there’s (compared to legitimate sales) a disturbingly large number of them! What they hope, however, is that their words may make those who have one of these bootleg copies feel a little compelled to toss them a coin.
“PLEASE, if you could support this project – by even grabbing the soundtrack – that would go a long way to ensuring that we can make more games. The Brotherhood is literally two guys sitting in a room, trying to compete with mega projects and mega budgets in this vast industry. From the bottom of our hearts, we ask that if you play Beautiful Desolation and enjoy it, please throw a few bucks our way.
We have a “pirates’ amnesty” page here at the link below. You can donate a dollar or more. No questions asked – we won’t contact you nor do we have an interest in finding out who you are. We only hope to bring future projects to the fans of our games, and need all the resources to make this a possibility.”
The team behind the game have claimed that they have recorded around 50,000 unique users of the game. When compared to their sales figures, and most notably their highest circa 1,000 concurrent users on Steam, it doesn’t take a mathematical genius to figure out that piracy has potentially cost them a significant amount of revenue. In theory, pirated copies might be outstripping legitimate on a scale of 50:1.
We do think, however, that their message is fair and, better still, through the amnesty page, you can make a donation to somewhat clear your conscience. You can check out their ‘tip page’ via the link here!
You can, of course, just buy a legitimate copy of the game (which we strongly recommend) via the link here! – At a shade under £14, this is a great gaming bargain and a perfect way to finish off your weekend!

With the Games Developers Conference (GDC 2020) looking to kick-off on March 16th, there has been a lot of speculation as to whether the event would actually go ahead. This has largely been based on the current concerns surrounding the Coronavirus with around 10-15 major participants (such as Microsoft, Amazon, Nintendo, and Sony) already confirming that they would not be attending.
Well, in a report via Kotaku, it seems that based on this, the organizers of GDC 2020 have officially decided to pull the plug on the event.
GCD 2020 does still plan to host an ‘event’ on Twitch for March 16th. Specifically, where panelists and other attendees can submit videos for broadcast. As part of an official statement, however, the organizers have confirmed that they will no longer be hosting the physical event in San Francisco.
“After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March.
We fully intend to host a GDC event later in the summer. We will be working with our partners to finalize the details and will share more information about our plans in the coming weeks.”

While the organizers have confirmed that they do still plan to host the event this year, at the time of writing, its currently a little up in the air with a non-descript Summer date.
Will it actually go ahead though? Well, while it seems more than likely, there is a heck of a lot of coordination required. Particularly for such an event as substantial as this! As such, it is entirely possible that it might end up being skipped entirely this year. Well, either that or, at the very least, it may be held on a much smaller scale.
We will, of course, let you know. If you did have tickets to attend, however, then you might want to look to get your refund!

With Sony expected to release the PS5 before the end of this year, it is only a matter of time before they formally announce the console and what we can expect to see from it.
In a report via BGR, however, a new patent application by Sony may have revealed some pretty substantial changes to the controller design. A change that, I daresay, many of you will be thrilled to hear about!

So, what’s the big deal with this patent? Well, a close look at the figures suggests that Sony may be looking to significantly change the way in which the PS5’s controllers will charge.
As you are, no doubt, aware, the current method to charge your PS4 controller required you to plug it in via a USB cable. If the diagrams are accurate, however, it seems that Sony will be introducing some form of wireless charging pad.

I would honestly love to see this feature introduced. Largely because I’ve become more than a little tired of turning on my PS4 to play something only to find that the controller is practically flat. Yes, I do have charging cables, but not all of them are long enough to reach the comfort of my sofa! As such, having the option to simply ‘drop’ it onto a charging pad and let it do the work sounds like a great idea to me!
We should, of course, note that a patent application doesn’t necessarily mean that it will make the final launch. I’m sincerely hoping, however, that this one does!

Now, before you get too excited thinking that this might be our first look at the latest Nvidia graphics cards, a closer look at the reported clock speeds (1.11 and 1.01 GHz) does suggest that these are (probably) going to be workstation graphics cards.
While it is entirely speculation, many believe that these may represent the follow up to the Tesla V100.

Based on the compute units, these graphics cards should have around 7552 and 6912 CUDA cores. A pretty substantial number that, again, based on the clock speed, does suggest that these designs are being primarily aimed at work rather than play.
Who knows though, could the next Nvidia killer be an Nvidia graphics card? Well, while we all wait for AMD’s ‘Big Navi’, all we can say is that, at the time of writing, it does still seem more than a little likely.

With the release of the official opening cinematic trailer, we’ve been given our first extended look at what we can expect from Baldurs Gate 3 and, so far, we have to admit that it looks pretty impressive.
In a report via DSOGaming, however, there is perhaps something rather surprising on the cards. Namely, that the game may initially fully release as a PC exclusive because the developers are unsure as to whether current-gen consoles will be able to handle it!
Speaking in an interview, Baldur’s Gate 3 executive producer David Walgrave has dropped some pretty substantial hints that they are not planning on releasing the game for the PS4 or Xbox One. Not because they don’t want to, but because they don’t think those consoles will be able to handle it!
“I don’t think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There’s a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine. I don’t know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things.
Maybe it could run, but then we would have to tone down the textures and this and that and it wouldn’t look as cool anymore.”
While we always expected this to be launched on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it seems moderately surprising that they’re seemingly planning on ruling out the PS4 and Xbox One. I mean, while the game looks excellent, it doesn’t look that demanding. Especially not when you compare it to the scope of something like Cyberpunk 2077.
The only conclusion I can therefore draw is that it might be something to do with storage space. Could a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 require a colossal amount of data on the hard drive? I wouldn’t rule it out requiring around 200gb based on what they have revealed and what they have planned.
The short version is, however, that while Baldurs Gate 3 will hit early access on the PC before the end of this year, PS4 and Xbox One owners are likely going to be left out of this one!

Back in late 2018, we got our first confirmation that after a seemingly aeons long wait, Baldur’s Gate 3 was finally in development! Since then, however, the news went rather quiet. That was until earlier this week when it was revealed that the game would launch on Steam Early Access before the end of this year!
Well, it seems that the news is coming thick and fast now as now only has the official opening cinematic trailer been revealed, but also a circa 90-minute long gameplay video!
Utilizing the brand new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 is looking to really push the boundaries of world exploration and interaction to astonishing new levels. The gameplay trailer imparticular seems to show an emphasis on this within NPC interactions with various dialogue choices not dissimilar to that seen within The Witcher 3.
Some of the games key features are set to include:
With the game reportedly set to support single, split-screen and up to 4 via multiplayer, this is definitely shaping up to be one of the best D&D style RPG adventures ever created. With the launch of these new videos, however, we can really expect to start seeing the hype train gaining steam! Even I’ll admit, as someone with no interest in D&D, this has my attention!
Balders Gate 3 is set to launch for all consoles in 2021 with a PC early access release expected before the end of 2020!

I daresay that many of you reading this may have taken the plunge to upgrade your home TV to a 4K model and, in fairness, with various streaming platforms offering you various compatible packages, it is a very nice upgrade to standard HD.
With 8K televisions still being in their relative infancy, however, (both in terms of ownership and broadcasting options) it seems that the upgrade may not be so substantial as you might think. In a report via TechHive, a pretty hefty survey has concluded that, at best, the vast majority of people can not really tell the difference between 4K and 8K.

With participation from partners such as Pixar, Amazon Prime Video, LG, and the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), Warner Bros conducted a survey to see just how many people could truly ‘tell’ the difference between the video resolution formats.
Undertaken in a ‘television’ format, the survey utilized 7 sample videos and asked a pretty simple question. Which of the look looked better. From the results, the data overwhelmingly suggested that people struggled to distinguish the two and, overall, pretty much the majority of results show them as ‘looking’ similar at best!

While the data does clearly show that the numbers erring towards 8K looking better, in truth, I think the figures are a lot closer than many would’ve anticipated.
As above though, we’re still a long way off 8K TVs entering anything close to what could be called an ‘industry-standard’. If this data is correct, however, then it seems that 8K might not (overall) look that much better anyway!
What do you think? Do you own a 4K TV? Would you consider upgrading to 8K? In addition, do you think you’d be able to tell the difference? – Let us know in the comments!

All going well, we’re expecting Microsoft to formally reveal their next-gen Xbox Series X console in the next couple of months. That hasn’t, however, stopped a lot of news and speculation surrounding what the system will represent.
In a report via TechRadar, however, Microsoft has revealed further details surrounding an interesting new feature known as “Quick Resume”. A function that looks to get you gaming as quickly as possible, even after a system reboot.
So, what is “quick resume”, well while details of the technology are not quite yet clear, what Microsoft is saying is that via a specific function (that sounds not too dissimilar to ‘save states’) the console will be able to launch multiple games exactly where you left them in an almost instant manner. This is even if you have to restart the system for an update.
“The new Quick Resume feature lets you continue multiple games from a suspended state almost instantly, returning you to where you were and what you were doing, without waiting through long loading screens.”

I must admit that I do like the concept of this feature. The ability to be able to turn on your console and pick up a game exactly where you left it in an almost instantaneous fashion does sound like a huge plus to me. Admittedly though, what this will truly represent when the console is officially launched is still open to speculation.
Although I’m not planning on getting an Xbox Series X, it does kinda make me want Sony to announce something similar.

With AMD ReLive and Nvidia GeForce Experience Share, owners of those graphics cards have, for some time now, had more than a few options when it comes to game recording or streaming. For those with Intel graphics adaptors, however, the options have largely been limited to third-party applications.
With the launch of the latest Intel Graphics Command Center Beta, however, that’s all set to change. Yes, Intel has introduced its own capture and live-streaming software as a stand-alone download!
In the latest beta release, the software essentially allows you to utilize it as the means of either capturing your screen video or, alternatively, streaming it directly onto websites such as Twitch or YouTube.
So, in other words, it pretty much does everything the AMD or Nvidia alternatives offer, but this time coming officially under the Intel umbrella.

With Intel largely (and currently – don’t forget Xe is expected in 2020) having relatively weak integrated graphics solutions, it’s honestly difficult to ascertain exactly what use this software will be. Well, not unless you want to stream some pretty basic games such as Minecraft or Roblox.
The more optimistic among us might consider this some software as some form of precursor to the Xe graphics card. It is, after all, entirely possible and would make a lot of sense.
If you do want to check it out, however, then you do have a few options. To manually download it (and learn more), you can check the website here! – Alternatively, a quick search in the Microsoft store for ‘Graphics Command Center Beta’ should point you in the right direction!

We rush towards the best, the latest, the most innovative, and that often means the most expensive stuff too. It’s what we’re drawn to. However, even I can look in my wallet and realise I need to be a little more realistic with my budget. For a very affordable price, you’ll find a wealth of Marvo products to pick from, such as their new Scorpion G813 gaming mouse we have in the office today.
Marvo currently has to be some of the most affordable products we’ve ever reviewed on eTeknix. It’s no secret that when we looked at the CM375 4-in-1 gaming bundle (review) or their mechanical latest keyboards and mice (review), there were some issues. However, at the prices Marvo is selling them, we instantly loved what they’re doing too.

The Marvo Scorpion comes with an MSRP of just £24.99, but actually, it’s hitting the tills at just £15 on most resellers right now, including Amazon. Can we really get a 7200 DPI PixArt sensor gaming mouse for that kind of money? It certainly seems so, plus it’s equipped with custom software, a sniper button, it’s fully programmable, RGB lighting, and well, that’s about it, what more do you need!

Cooler Master has done amazing work over the last few years, focusing and redefining their product ranges into something cooler and more stylish. This is something that’s easily seen in their new MH headset series. Just a few weeks ago, I put their MH630 Gaming Headset through its paces and was stunned at the quality on offer for such a modest price. We’re moving up the range today though, with the MH650 opting for USB connectivity, adding some RGB and virtual surround processing for good measure.

It’s certainly a well-equipped headset, offering pretty much what you would expect for a sub £100 gaming headset. Premium materials, loads of ergonomic adjustment features, some funky RGB lighting, and plug and play practicality. Plus, it features a removable cable and microphone, which is awesome. However, there is a software package that’s recommended for tweaking a lot of cool settings too. If it’s as good, and hopefully better than the MH650, then Cooler Master is onto a winner. So, let’s get it out of the box and take a closer look!

For in-depth specifications, please visit the official Cooler Master MH650 product page here.

“The MH650 Gaming Headset provides an immersive experience in a portable package ideal for console and PC gamers. Virtual 7.1 surround sound and omnidirectional boom mic offer high-quality sound and comms, wrapped in a sleek matte black design and fully customizable RGB illumination – and cushioned ear cups provide the perfect fit for those marathon sessions.”
The headset is well packaged, with everything secured in place and protected. Plus, the cables are in their own compartment. Finally, you’ll also find a protective carry bag and the instruction book tucked into the back of the box.

In the box, you’ll find the headset, which comes with the wire attached, but it is removable. You’ll also find a detachable boom microphone included too.

The cable features a thick black braiding which looks fantastic but will also protect the cable from damage.

And just a little detail, but the funky purple insert in the USB header. If you didn’t know, that’s Cooler Master branding colour, so a nice little nod.

There will always be debates about whether gaming was harder back in the NES days than it is today, but one thing is certain. Gaming these days is certainly a lot more forgiving.
If you did, however, own a Konami game in the late ’80s or early 90’s you will undoubtedly be familiar with ‘the Konami code’. A semi-universal ‘cheat’ across their games that essentially allowed you to have far more lives than was originally intended. A code that largely jumped into popularity due to the exceptionally hard nature of games such as Contra. While I never really played Contra myself, I was exceptionally happy to have it in the NES port of the TMNT arcade game. Put simply, I’d have never beat that game without it!
Well, if you were very grateful for this cheat back in the day, then we have some sad news. Kazuhisa Hashimoto, the person who actually created and inserted this into the classic games, has sadly passed away at the age of 61.
We are saddened to hear about the passing of Kazuhisa Hashimoto, a deeply talented producer who first introduced the world to the "Konami Code".
— Konami (@Konami) February 26, 2020
Our thoughts are with Hashimoto-san's family and friends at this time. Rest In Peace. pic.twitter.com/vQijEQ8lU2
Having joined Konami in 1981, Kazuhisa Hashimoto was involved in some of their biggest gaming releases. It is, however, mildly amusing that he never intended the code to go public. In a report via TechSpot, he revealed in a prior interview that the code was originally intended to be used only by him. Specifically, so he could beat a game he was working on:
“I hadn’t played [Gradius] much and obviously couldn’t beat it myself, so I put in the Konami Code because [as] I was the one who was going to be using it, I made sure it was easy to remember.”

So, you might be wondering why the code was retained? You know, since he was the only one who intended to use it. Well, quite simply, it all boiled down to the fact that the developers didn’t want to remove it from Gradius. Not because they liked it, but because they feared it would scramble up the code too much!
It’s unclear as to the continuation of it was because they thought it was a good idea or the fact that they simply recycled code for alternative games, but anyway you look at it, there are very few gaming people these days who don’t know the Konami code. Even if, ironically, they’ve never actually used it themselves. I must admit though, it gave me great pleasure to see it used within the Disney film ‘Wreck-it Ralph’. You can check out the clip of it below.
So, as we bid farewell to Kazuhisa Hashimoto, let me take this moment to say thank you. As a gamer growing up with some pretty damn hard games, I learned that I didn’t need to get just one life. With the Konami code, I could just get 30 of them instead!

]]>
There was a time where practically every smart device had a detachable battery. This was, admittedly, before the time they were even known as ‘smart devices’, but over the last 15 years, we’ve definitely seen a trend towards all major manufacturers making the batteries an integrated part of the design. In other words, replacing it is tricky at best and usually a costly process via the manufacturer.
In a report via TechSpot, however, new draft proposals by the EU may be looking to take us back to those days.
Replacing batteries in modern smartphones is a very difficult process. In fact, it’s difficulty in the vast majority of any smart device. Laptops, notebooks, tablets etc.
It is so difficult, in fact, that more often than not you require someone very experienced in the process to do it. Usually, the original manufacturer who, as anyone with experience with Apple will know, doesn’t come cheap! The alternative is that you just bin the existing product and grudgingly upgrade!
So, you might be thinking that this proposal is designed to curb those costs to protect consumers? Well, yes and no. The truth is that while this is a happy bonus, the real reason more boils down to environmental issues.

Getting down to the basics of this proposal, what this really wants is for smartphones to be more practical over longer periods of time. Let’s be honest, one of the main factors that often drives people to upgrade their smart devices is the failing battery lifespan. Something even I have had to consider now as my iPhone 6 can barely handle 3-4 hours of YouTube these days.
If my smartphone had a removable battery, I’d have replaced it months ago and would’ve happily carried on using it for several more years. As such, the proposals do make some sense. Call me crazy though, but I can’t see the manufacturers being too happy to oblige this one!
‘Something that might stop people buying the latest smart devices?! – Don’t be ridiculous!’

With the next-gen consoles expected to launch before the end of the year, it will essentially represent the beginning of the end for the Xbox One and PS4. In terms of systems, however, there is always a matter of curiosity as to how long they are generally relevant.
Well, in a report via TechRadar, it seems that Microsoft may be planning on the Xbox Series X to be around for a very long time!
Speaking in an interview, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has dropped a pretty major hint that Microsoft may be planning for the Xbox Series X to be a long-term deployment with numbers as high as 10-years being mentioned.
Now, while this might sound a little fanciful, there is a significant factor that could make this possible. Namely, that Microsoft is well-known to be highly active in the game streaming market and, as such (and as time goes on) having a high-powered system may become less important.

If the Xbox Series X does hang around for 10 years (which would perhaps be mildly surprising based on the fact that most predict that it is (like the Xbox One) going to do significantly less well in sales than the Sony alternative) then cloud and stream gaming is going to play a major role in that. It would, however, also likely make it one of the longest system cycles in recent memory.
It isn’t, however, unheard of. For example, the humble little NES lasted around 10-years with the Japanese Famicon making it to the 20-year mark!
Call me crazy though, but I somehow don’t think that anyone playing the Xbox Series X this Christmas will still be doing so by 2030.

You may recall hearing a couple of years ago that a self-driving Tesla car was involved in a very serious road traffic accident in which the driver sadly lost their life. Representing one of the first major automotive deaths in the ‘self-driving‘ industry, there was clearly a lot of speculation as to what factors caused the accident.
Well, in a report via Yahoo, the NTSB (National Transport Safety Board) has officially issued their findings report and it has been cited that one of the causes was the fact that the driver was playing games on their smartphone when the incident occurred.
Now, we should make it abundantly clear that the NTSB hasn’t specifically and solely blamed the driver for the accident. This was merely one of a number of contributing factors. Something that is often the case in any major accident.
It does, however, explain why (after the system went wrong) why the driver was unable to provide any manual inputs to override the incorrect automated ones. Put simply, he was distracted.

In the report, the NTSB has largely cited 4 major factors that led to the fatal collision:
As part of the conclusion, the NTSB has issued 8 recommendations for Tesla to modify its self-driving system. It does, however, highlight one of the biggest concerns with such systems. Namely, human complacency.

Although there is plenty of news and speculation surrounding the new upcoming range of AMD mobile processors, it should be noted that, to date, Team Red has remained largely quiet on the ‘Ryzen 9′ releases.
In a report via Videocardz, however, it seems that a Romanian retailer might have just gotten a little excited by posting a brand new ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop that just happens to feature an AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU.

Although, as you might expect, the listing has since been removed. It wasn’t before someone was able to grab these screenshots. In them, we can see confirmation of the laptop’s specifications and, specifically, this new and yet undisclosed processor from AMD.
The specifications do, however, seem to confirm the long-standing rumours that this will be an 8 core/16 thread release. Something more than a little unusual in the mobile CPU market!

Based on the specifications, we have to assume that this is going to represent the highest-specification of laptops from ASUS’ new and upcoming range release. With a price in the region of £1900, however, they clearly are not going to be inexpensive solutions!

]]>
AMD has over the last couple of years, slowly but surely, been starting to take a keen and fresh look at their embedded CPU designs. Largely thanks to their highly popular Ryzen platform which have (unless you’ve been hiding under a technological rock) been a huge hit with desktop consumers.
With the launch of two new processor designs, however, AMD has some fresh products coming onto the market with a keen emphasis on low-power consumption. A major factor for mini-PC designs!

With the R1305G coming with a 1.5/2.8GHz base/boost clock speed, they’re clearly not exactly to performers. When you consider, however, that this processor only requires around 8-10W TDP, it’s pretty impressive that they’ve managed to squeeze this level of performance out of it!
The main focus of these Ryzen embedded processor designs is towards the mini-PC market. An area that has seen some significant growth in the last few years.
“The AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 family now includes two new processors designed for efficient power envelopes, the Ryzen Embedded R1102G and R1305G processors.
The new processors scale from 6 up to 10 watts of TDP respectively, while also giving customers the ability to reduce system costs with less memory DIMMS and lower power requirements.
With this low power envelope, these embedded processors give customers the ability to create fanless systems, opening new markets that can leverage the high-performance Ryzen Embedded processors.”
For more information, you can check out their official website via the link here!

While it’s never exactly the most exciting aspect of processor designs, mini-PCs are getting more and more popular. As such, manufacturers are desperate for new and (relatively) fast designs and, better still, those that can operate on incredibly low TDP requirements.
With these two new processors expected to launch this March, you can expect to see these to feature in systems in the very near future!

We love a good mini-ITX case, and even more so, I love a good NZXT case! I love these things, and it’s nice to see them come together again. However, this isn’t your typical mini-ITX PC case. Well, it is a mini-ITX PC Case, but it comes heavily equipped right out of the box. You get an integrated power supply, a GPU riser card, and even an all-in-one cooling solution from NZXT. We’re not talking some cheap add-on hardware either, this is pretty serious stuff. That does mean the price is quite high, but because it’s all here, it could be a time and money saver in the long run.
Clocking in at just 13.6 litres, the case is pretty compact. However, because it stands vertically, it has an even smaller footprint than most cases too. It clocks in at just 187(W) x 387.7(H) x 187.6(L) mm, which is pretty darn compact for what it can handle. Furthermore, The dual-chamber design means they can deliver better cooling for the CPU and GPU too.
As you can see, it’s pretty well equipped, with a bunch of included hardware, a load of tempered glass, and more. You just drop in the motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM and storage, and you’re off.

There are a lot of big PC cases on the market for people to pick from, if anything the bigger the case, the easier it is to find something that’ll work. However, when you get to mini-ITX sizes, component compatibility can be tricky. However, the new Cooler Master H100 looks perfect for those who are short on space but still want a pretty competent gaming PC at home. However, thanks to a built-in carry handle design, it’ll be ready to pick up and go wherever you need it too.
It’s pretty well equipped, despite the compact size. The front panel features a massive 200mm RGB fan that just dominates the front panel. That means huge airflow in a tiny space, and that’s a good thing. It’ll still handle some decent hardware though, such as a mini-ITX motherboard, a mid-size graphics card, and even a full ATX power supply! That’s pretty impressive, but how to it stack up in the real world? Let’s fine out!
“The Master Case H100 is a mini-ITX case that can be configured as a portable gaming rig, a tiny living room PC, and a desktop space-saver. From its industrial construction to its entirely mesh front panel, the H100 fits neatly in the series as a travel-sized alternative. Mesh makes up the entire front panel and part of the top panel, offering just enough room for a built-in handle to add to its portability. Whether you’re saving desk space or looking for a portable alternative to the H Series, the H100 houses powerful mini-ITX systems in a tiny amount of space.”

Late last year, we reported how China had issued a bold new directive regarding its technology. Specifically, by no later than 2022, the country wanted its state-run systems to be completely independent of Nvidia, AMD, and Intel.
Quite a bold statement and, in all honesty, something that seemed more than a little optimistic. In a report via TechPowerUp, however, the release of the Ruijie RG-CT7800 Mini-PC might have just taken that concept a significant step forward!
At a glance, the Ruijie RG-CT7800 looks like a fairly standard mini-PC design. It is, however, what’s in it that represents the greatest interest!
Utilizing the Zhaoxin KaiXian CPU, this represents one of the first commercially available processors to have been designed entirely on Chinese soil. While it’s unknown current as to how much of the technology within this system is ‘home-growth’ China has been investing huge amounts of money into chipset design and memory production.

Sounding something like a football formation, the initiative by China is being more colloquially known as the 3-5-2. Specifically because of the time scales in which China wants to make the transition away from non-home technology. Specifically:
The chances of them legitimately succeeding in this within state-run systems seems more than a little unlikely. Then again, this is China and, if anyone could do it, it’d be them!

Regardless of your opinion on self-driving cars (and we know the jury is still very much out on them at the moment), it seems almost certain that they will form some part of the future of motoring. That isn’t, however, to say that the technology doesn’t still have a long way to go.
For example, it’s well known that many of the systems AI can significantly struggle to identify the road in poor weather conditions. Particularly after a snowfall. In a video released by MIT, however, researchers believe that they may have the answer to it!

So, how does it work? Well, essentially the car is fitted with ground-penetrating radar (GPR). With this, the AI is effectively able to scan the surface on which the car is driving and determine which part of it is the actual road.
From there, based on your position, it can ensure that you are not only driving on tarmac (and yes, it can distinguish it from just dirt or solid ground) but also that you’re on the correct side of the road! If you want to see it in action you can check out the video below.
Self-driving car technology has a long way to go before it will ever be widely accepted throughout the world. Advances such as this, however, are a clear, solid, and sensible step forward. If it is, therefore going to happen, we need to see more things like this!
With more testing to go, expect to see this GPR system implemented by companies such as Tesla and Toyota in the very near future!

I think it’s fair to say that when the PSVR launched, there was a strong level of curiosity as to how well the headset would perform. Fast forward a couple of years, however, and it has undoubtedly proven to be a huge success for the company with both fans and critics enjoying its features.
Following the issue of a new patent application from Sony, however, it seems that things might be set to change as a brand new controller has been revealed that, for all intents and purposes, looks to be for use with its virtual reality headset.

At the time of writing, it is unclear as to whether Sony plans to launch a completely new version of the PSVR headset. They are, after all, on the record to say that the PS5 will support the existing VR technology currently compatible with the PS4.
The patent application, however, suggests that Sony may be considering launching brand new hand controllers. Ones that offer users far more functionality in terms of movement, reaction, and precision.
The official patent application described the product as:
“This controller device is worn on the hand of a user and includes: a plurality of sensor units that detect the fingers of the user; and a sensor support part that supports the sensor units. The sensor support part supports the sensor units so that the distance between adjacent sensor units can be changed.”

While we suspect that Sony will keep the current PSVR headset design, it seems probable that with the launch of the PS5, they are going to want to look to update it sooner or later.
The controller may, therefore suggest that a brand new PSVR headset may be created. So, what about existing owners? Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if this patent is for the model to be sold separately. Specifically as an upgrade for owners of the existing hardware. That is, at least, the theory I’m currently running with!
You can, incidentally, check out the patent application for yourself via the link here!

It’s hardly any secret that both the Sony PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X will release later this year. While no exact release date has yet been announced, we would likely expect them to launch their respective systems over the next few months with a release scheduled for (probably) around November.
With both companies likely looking to keep their distance from each other in the early days, however, there is the question of when the two will (finally) have to come face to face. Well, it seems in a report via Twinfinite that the first instance may occur at the Tokyo Games Show 2020!
As part of the event’s official announcement, the Tokyo Games Show has dropped a pretty major hint that both Microsoft and Sony will be in attendance. As such, it hardly takes a genius to figure out (based on the September 24th date) that this is (practically) the first confirmed instance we have of the two consoles being under the same roof at the same event!
“Featuring novel game consoles for the next generation, TGS2020 is sure to attract even more attention from around the world. The event will focus on the full-fledged launch of cloud gaming and its advanced gaming environment such as the start of 5G services for commercial use, and will boost the unprecedented gaming experience brought by new platforms.
Moreover, TGS2020 will host the area where visitors can explore “new frontiers” of games through crossing over with education, fashion, arts and other industries.”

We should clarify that it’s entirely possible that the two systems will meet before the Tokyo Games Show. This is, however, practically the first confirmed instance of both systems going ‘head to head’.
So, who will come out on top? Well, until we know more details, it’s honestly still hard to say. We would, however, go as far as to say that the smart money is probably on Sony’s PS5. We are though, prepared for Microsoft to give us something to think about!

It’s been well known that Sony has been working on a new version of its highly-popular Xperia smartphone. Exactly what it will represent, however, has to date been a little unclear.
In a report via Engadget, however, we might have a window into what we can expect and, if you take your video seriously, then it might just be one of the most interesting products to hit the market in years!

Speaking of the upcoming smartphone release, Sony has been keen to emphasize that the Xperia Pro 5G will pack a number of features that should be very interesting for those who wish to record (or broadcast) high-quality video on the go. This isn’t, however, some fancy new technology regarding the camera.
As part of the specifications, Sony has confirmed the following:
The most interesting aspect, however, is that the Xperia Pro will support high-speed mmWave 5G tech. A feature specifically designed to promote fast and high-quality 4K video recording, playback, and broadcasting.
If that wasn’t enough, then the Xperia Pro 5G will feature something very unusual in the smartphone world. Namely, an HDMI port.

The mmWave 5G technology suggests that Sony is very deliberately looking to push this device towards broadcasters who want the best video quality on the go. You know, without having a whole wagon required to broadcast or route the signal.
Is one thing is abundantly clear throughout this, however, it’s that the Sony Xperia Pro 5G is likely not going to be cheap! With it expected to launch in the next few months, however, we don’t have long before we find out!

CD Projekt Red is one of the (sadly) few game developers who are almost universally respected among their fans. Known to not release a game until it’s ready, one of the best examples of this was when they recently announced that upcoming release Cyberpunk 2077 had been delayed from April until September.
Did the fans have a problem with this? Of course they didn’t! Why? Because they trust that if CD Projekt Red is delaying a game, it’s only because it’s around 97% ready. As fans, we know that they have only pushed it back to make sure that last 3% is perfected!
In a report via Eurogamer, however, it seems that this faith they have built with consumers has been well-rewarded. So much, in fact, that the latest company valuation now rates them as the 2nd ‘biggest’ game developer in Europe.

Despite being valued at around $6.8b only last month, it seems that a lot of things have been going in their favor. This is in no small part due to the recent resurgence in ‘The Witcher’ franchise following the highly successful Netflix series. Something additionally backed by the (much better than it had any right to be) Nintendo Switch port.
More so, however, with Cyberpunk 2077 almost guaranteed to be one of the most groundbreaking games in recent memory, there’s a lot of confidence in CD Projekt Red at the moment from the markets.
Well, in terms of European developers, Ubisoft still holds the top spot with a reported value of around $9.6b. Albeit, how a company that has become so shoddy over the last 10 years is still worth that much is honestly beyond me!
The good news is, however, that CD Projekt Red is currently on a huge upward spike and, as we noted earlier, given that they are one of the most universally loved developers out there, this does give the market (as a whole) an indication that consumers do support companies who support them! We can only hope that EA, Bethesda, and Blizzard are paying attention to this!

There is something of a cliché that ‘crime doesn’t pay’. While you can debate the merits of a statement like that, one thing is usually pretty clear. It’s unusual for criminals to actually invest their ill-gotten gains.
It seems, however, that this is exactly what Clifton Collins did. As a drug dealer in Ireland, he has reportedly invested a small portion of his earnings into Bitcoin back when it was worth around $5-$6 a coin. With it now being worth between $9,000-$10,000, it is estimated that his investment had since grown to around $58m. Notice how I used the past tense there?…
So, what went wrong? Well, firstly he got caught dealing drugs and was sent to prison. Before this, however, Mr. Collin’s decided that it was a good idea to ‘diversify’ his funds into 12 separate accounts.
Now, as you may be aware, cryptocurrency wallets often require very complex passwords to access and, with him in prison (and arrested unexpectedly), he clearly didn’t have time to make sure they were kept somewhere safe.
One person who did have access to them, however, was his landlord. A person who, in a report via CNET, after hearing about Mr. Collin’s ‘holiday’, decided to throw out all of his possessions.
Yes, including the sheet of A4 paper which contained all of the cryptocurrency account details. Doh!

Well, the truth of the matter is that even if these codes had been discovered before they were disposed of, Mr. Collin’s still likely would’ve never received the money. You know… since he earned it through illegal means I daresay that the Irish government would’ve been the only people ‘cashing’ it in.
It does, however, represent yet another case of millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin likely currently being ‘held’ in a tip somewhere. Apparently inside a fishing tackle box if you wanted to go have a look for it yourself.
So, does crime pay? Well, perhaps, but keeping the money is clearly a lot trickier than earning it!

In our past reviews of be quiet! power supplies, we have never failed to be impressed. Largely because they take a highly-professional, no-nonsense approach with a highly specific focus on performance and quality.
In other words, pretty much exactly and all you could want from a PSU.

With the recent launch of the new be quiet! Straight Power 11 platinum power supplies, they really are as straight forward as the name would suggest. Coming in wattage outputs between 550w-1200w, there’s a model to suit everyone here.
When combined with the Platinum efficiency rating (one of the best you can get) these clearly have to be designed and built to an exceptionally high standard.
With us specifically reviewing the 750w variant (a nice middle of the road option suitable for the vast majority of gamers) let’s get stuck in and see what it’s all about!

For more details specifications, please visit the official product page via the link here!

“The be quiet! Straight Power 11 PSU series provides a new level of silent performance for systems that demand whisper-quiet operation without the slightest compromise in power quality. The 80 PLUS® Platinum and Gold label proof the focus on efficiency of this latest generation of the Straight Power series. These all go to make the Straight Power 11 series more silent and efficient than ever and clearly the best choice when building new systems or as an upgrade to existing systems.”
As a fully modular power supply, you are provided with more than enough connections here to suit any ‘normal’ mid to high-tier system. The cables themselves are not overly long, but with the ‘upright’ style of the design, fitting them to your motherboard and peripherals shouldn’t prove to give you any difficulty.

It’s pretty much an open secret that Activision is planning on introducing a ‘battle royale’ mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I mean, considering that when you enter the game you are met with a rather prominent ‘classified’ inaccessible menu option, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what it’s probably going to be!
It seems, however, that Activision is taking an exceptionally dim view of the leaks occurring on Reddit. So much so, in fact, that in a report via Eurogamer, they have issued the social media site with subpoenas. Why? Well, they’re specifically looking to identify the sources of them!

We have, to date, seen various leaks surrounding the upcoming battle royale game mode. These have included a number of the expected features and even detailed map images.
While Activision has been very quick to takedown various posts across social media sites surrounding the game mode, it seems that they are taking things to a whole new level. By issuing Reddit with subpoenas, they are very deliberately asking the social media site to reveal the true identities of the leak sources. Something that Reddit, like it or not, may (legally) have to oblige them with!
It’s entirely understandable why Activision would issue take-down notices. It is, however, unclear as to why they’re willing to go this far to identify their sources. If I was one of those person/s, however, that had leaked information, I’d be more than a little worried. I mean, I’m not entirely sure what Activision could do, but I wouldn’t like the thought of their lawyers potentially taking an interest in me either.
With the Reddit Megathread already seeing some significant ‘pruning’, however, it seems that some people are already taking measures to try and hide! We will, of course, keep you posted, but if you have some tasty news surrounding the game mode, it may be wiser to keep it to yourself!

Around two years ago, a person by the name of ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes came to our attention. Promoting himself as a ‘Flat Earth Theorist‘, he built a steam-powered rocket in (basically) his tool shed and, perhaps even more bizarrely, launched himself within it in an attempt to prove that the Earth was flat.
Well, sadly, we have some bad news. His latest attempt has sadly ended in tragedy when his parachute failed to deploy correctly that resulted in a crash-landing. Achieving a height of around 2,000 feet, I don’t think it needs to be said that he didn’t survive the impact.

Generally spending his career as a daredevil (and holding a world record for a limousine jump), we should note that he was probably not really a flat earth theorist. He likely just used it as a device to obtain some popularity. Let’s face it, the mere mention of it in our title probably grabbed your attention, didn’t it?
As you can see in the video below, however, he had attempted rocket launches in the past and with a lot of success. Particularly considering that this was entirely a homemade design.
And there he goes!!! #MadMikeHughes blasts off from #Amboy 03-24-17 pic.twitter.com/CrA0C9PEI0

Now, after some consideration, I have decided to include the video of his rocket accident below. I mean, if I didn’t, you’d only probably go looking for it anyway.
I would, however, urge you now to remember that he died in this accident and, as such, if you can try and keep your amusing comments to yourself, we would appreciate it! Regardless of if he was a flat-earth theorist or not, he was undoubtedly a very brave person!
So, what went wrong? – Well, as you can see in the video below, upon launch his parachute deployed and detached from his rocket. After that, it was pretty guaranteed that his fate was sealed. Shortly after impact, ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes was pronounced dead at the scene.
So, RIP ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes. You were a braver man than me and I’m genuinely sorry that it had to end this way! May your legacy for what the ‘man in his shed’ can achieve live on!

If you were in the mood for a murder mystery, however, then Red Dead Redemption 2 might provide you with more of a challenge. Well, particularly since Columbo generally tends to make it abundantly clear who the killer is right at the beginning!
In a video that’s proving very popular on Reddit, gaming detectives are trying to figure out why a random NPC in Red Dead Redemption 2 decided to brutally murder another.

In the video, which was taken during the single-player campaign, we see Arthur Morgan antagonizing a random person into a fight. Nothing unusual there, right? Well, it becomes more than a little bizarre when a seemingly random NPC (from a pretty significant distance) decides to intervene by stabbing your assailant in the neck from behind!
Don’t believe me? – Then watch it for yourself in the video below!
So far, nobody seems to have any firm ideas as to what caused that NPC to get involved in the fight. As you can see around the 15-second mark, as soon as the victim throws the first punch at Arthur, he wheels around very quickly despite being a considerable distance away from both Arthur and his new ‘friend’. The murderer then proceeds to stalk his victim before plunging the knife in his neck.

I must admit that I’m a huge fan of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I would, however, also admit that while generally do alright at the game, I’ve had more than a few rounds I’d rather forget. Thankfully though, most of those haven’t been captured in a video.
Following a post on Reddit, however, user ‘CrossFingers’ might be the unluckiest guy in the world. Why? Well, in the ‘play of the match’ highlight, his death happened to feature in it FOUR SEPERATE times!
So, how could this possibly happen? Well, if I tell you that this occurred on the ‘Shipment’ map, those of you familiar with the game have probably already given a little ‘ah!’.
Yes, this is the smallest map in the game and, in 6 vs 6, is one of the most merciless modes around. As such, when a POTM highlight is chosen, you can usually expect to see some carnage.
What you don’t usually get to see, however, is the same player being killed four times within it. Still don’t believe it’s possible? – Then check out the video below!

There are countless AIO coolers on the market these days, but there’s certainly a formula for a good one. A good quality pump, a capable 240mm radiator (or bigger), good quality fans, and in today’s market, a dose of RGB thrown in for good measure. The Cougar Helor 240 certain ticks all those boxes, and given the winning streak Cougar seem to be on with their product launches, I have high hopes for this one. Cougar might not be the biggest name in some markets, but time and time again, they’ve shown that can compete with the big dogs when it comes to quality, performance and price.

The Helor 240 is very well equipped, and so it should be. This isn’t some cheap and cheerful rival to the big names, this is a fully-equipped high-end contender with a £100+ price tag to live up to. With that in mind, you’ll be glad to see it come with fully addressable Dynamic RGB, as well as their fantastic Core Box V2 RGB hub. That’s the same RGB hub we tested in their fan review recently! Then you have their lovely Vortex Omega fans, which feature 16% longer fan blades, and a 600 to 1800 RPM range for added cooling performance and silence. As I said, the Helor is a serious competitor, and I am really looking forward to seeing what this one can do!

Earlier this month Nvidia fully launched its ‘GeForce Now‘ game streaming service and so far it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. While the company did recently confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 was coming to the platform, for example, it did come on the back of the news that Blizzard/Activision had removed all of their titles from it.
Well, it seems that the latest news doesn’t make things get any better. Following an official post on the Nvidia forums, it has been confirmed that all but one of Bethesda’s games have now also been removed from GeForce NOW!

In the forum post (which you can read in full here) Nvidia has confirmed the following Bethesda games have been removed from the GeForce NOW game streaming platform:
A pretty extensive list, right? Well, it turns out that the only Bethesda game that has survived this mass cull is ‘Wolfenstein Youngblood’.
At the time of writing, it is unclear why so many games have been removed from the GeForce NOW platform. If this is anything like what happened with Blizzard/Activision, however, then the difficulties probably lie in the fact that the streaming service just transitioned from being (mostly) free to a paid subscription platform.
With a number of users already citing their displeasure at these problems, it’s not the best start. Hopefully, though, things will improve in the future!
