The Fierce PC Dream Machines P960RN Gaming Laptop 2 is available right now. It comes equipped with the Intel Core i7 9750H CPU, Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q, and 16GB of 2666 DDR4 memory. Now, there are some customisation options too. You can tweak the memory configuration from 2 x 8GB to 1 x 16GB. Plus, you can change the M.2 drive, or even add an additional SSD or HDD ass you desire.
However, in its default configuration which we reviewed, it’s £1889.95 (inc VAT). It’s also available with a range of finance options. Alternatively, there’s another version of it here with a different storage configuration for just £1849.95.
There’s no shortage of super-fast laptops on the market. The gaming laptop market has always been something of an arms race between brands. However, without getting into the ultra-extreme and ultra-expensive sectors of the market, the Intel Core i7-9750H and RTX 2080 Max-Q are about as fast as you’re going to get. For a sniff under £2000, it’s certainly the best you’re going to find.
As one of the best names in the PC building market, Fierce PC has many years of experience under their belt. They have some of the best warranty policies out there, and if this laptop is anything to go by, some fantastic engineers too. They’re competitive on price too, and while the Dream Machines isn’t a bargain, it is fairly priced against their rivals. Also, they do have a bit of a price match system too.
A gaming laptop isn’t always the best way to enjoy the latest games. This is mostly due to the screen size, cooling performance, even the cost. However, Fierce PC strikes a good balance here. The panel on the monitor is a great size, and for 1080p, it’s very sharp too. The IPS panel, combined with the high refresh rate capabilities makes it a joy to play games on. Plus, having the RTX 2080 doing the heavy lifting, it’ll make light work of ANY modern PC game.
Of course, when it comes to working, it’s got super-fast storage, a decent size keyboard, and a decent size battery to get you through a good few hours sitting on the train looking at spreadsheets. With good USB C support, HDMI out, decent WiFI, etc, it’s got a bit of something for everyone, and a lot to offer to gamers.
