During an interview at the Brazil Game Show, Naoki Hamaguchi, co-director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, confirmed that the ending of Part 3 has already been decided and that it will satisfy everyone — both longtime fans and newcomers who discovered Cloud and his companions through the recent remakes.
“Of course, the conclusion of the third part is already fully formed in my mind,” Hamaguchi said. “I believe this conclusion will please all those in the FF7 fan community that loved the original, as well as all of those who became part this FF7 fan community through the FF7 Remake series. I feel confident this new game will surely be loved by everyone!”
The Reason Behind the Three-Part Structure
Hamaguchi also emphasized that the decision to divide the remake into three parts wasn’t driven by commercial strategy, but by creative and technical necessity. According to him, it would have been impossible to tell the full story with modern technology without cutting important content and disappointing fans.
“Final Fantasy VII is a game with a very large fanbase,” he explained. “We could have cut some parts and made it into one game, but that would never be forgiven by the original fans. If we were to take the story and use these new technologies to tell it, it wouldn’t be possible to do it in just one game. So, we made that difficult decision to divide it into three parts.”
The three-act structure has allowed the team to balance nostalgia with innovation, preserving the original narrative while expanding certain aspects and introducing new elements.
At the moment, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 does not yet have an official release window. However, the wait might not be long.
