Final Fantasy XV On PC Is ‘A Generation Ahead Of Consoles’

Final Fantasy XV
We have made very little secret of it here at eTeknix. Aside from Ni No Kuni 2, Final Fantasy XV for the PC is one of our most anticipated releases of the year.
While the game was excellent on its console release (except possibly making my poor old PS4 run faster and hotter than me chasing an ice cream van), the PC version is set to include a whole new host of features really pushing out the graphical boat.
While this has hardly been a secret, the game’s director has gone so far as to suggest that the PC version of FFXV will be a whole generation ahead of consoles.
A whole generation ahead of consoles
It certainly is a bold claim, but in fairness, one in which I think the PC port might be able to claim.
Final Fantasy XV is set to include Nvidia’s Gameworks, 4k and 8k support, HDR10 and Dolby Atmos support. Many of these features are either not available on console or at present are exceptionally limited.
One major factor is a rather inaccurate I term I used only a couple paragraphs ago, port. This isn’t a port, it’s a complete recreation from the ground up with PC solely in mind.
While, as above, this is a bold claim, there is also a minor caveat here. Both the PS4 and Xbox One (overlooking their more recent updated releases) are hardly new. We have entered what could politely be called the twilight period of the current generation and many would happily make the case that they were not exactly massively high-spec on release either.
What about the PC specifications?
Obviously, some exceptionally high-end systems are going to be needed to run FFXV in all its glory. The system requirements, however, to simply play the game are not too bad at all.
Admittedly, the requirement of a Nvidia 1080ti to run this at 4k is a little extreme. Lord only knows what would be necessary to get this to run 8k.
When is the release date?
Final Fantasy XV is set to land on PCs on March 6th. Yes, just 1 month to go until we see what will perhaps be one of the most polished game releases ever.
