Final Fantasy XV PC Port Would Take Over a Year According to Co-Director

Final Fantasy XV

Third-party exclusives appear to be on the demise and it’s now quite common for the PC gamers to enjoy a huge range of unusual titles from Japanese development studios. In recent times, companies have been more open to the PC platform and acknowledged the increasing player base. Even though some of the older Final Fantasy titles launched on the PC, the latest entries remained console exclusives. After a great deal of time, this decision was reassessed and the PC owners could finally get their hands on the XIII series. Of course, Final Fantasy XV is on the horizon and the footage so far looks incredible. Currently, it’s only scheduled to release on the consoles but a PC version is a distinct possibility.

Recently, the game’s co-director Hajime Tabata spoke to the Spanish website Vida Extra (translated by WCCFTech) and discussed the time period required for a PC port:

“On that hypothesis, not talking about something real, just an idea, if we worked on a PC version what I have very clear is that we would work to provide a better version of what we have now on consoles,”

“We could say that something like this would take us more than a year. We should work to adapt the engine, which is very laborious, and from there to develop its course.”

This is an interesting statement and it’s clear that the PC version isn’t coming anytime soon. Saying that, I’d prefer a more polished edition with enhanced optimisation instead of a rushed, barebones port.
