Firefox haven’t been hanging around recently with updating and improving their browser. According to their director Kevin Needham this is something that is going to happen for the forseeable future after a plan of Firefox releases was demonstrated. By the end of 2011 we will have Firefox 9 with us, then 2012 is a busy year for Mozilla with 8 releases planned meaning that by the time we arrive in 2013 Firefox will be at version 17. The the plan for 2013 is just as busy, another 8 releases taking Firefox to number 25 by the end of 2013. As expected the beta remains one version ahead at all times and the aurora remains two versions ahead, so you can get your hands on Firefox 27 within a couple of years of this date.
Some analysts are predicting this may be bad news for Firefox’s business clientèle unless they can find a way of making the transitions between versions seamless and smooth. The schedule shows a 6 week release cycle which is roughly what Google does too although Google does not follow a strict schedule like Mozilla is planning.
