First Cooler Images Revealed for AMD SP5 and AM5 Sockets

It’s still, roughly speaking, around a year to go until AMD is expected to formally confirm the launch (and subsequent release) of its new AM5 socket-based Ryzen 6000 (or Ryzen 7000 depending on the rumours of a generation skip) desktop processors. This will, of course, also see the release of their new and long-overdue additions to their server-based SP5 EYPC line-up. – To date, however, very little information is known about the AM5/SP5 socket other than the fact that it’ll be larger than the AM4 (to accommodate for more pins), and speaking of pins, they will be adopting an LGA design (pins on the motherboard rather than on the CPU itself).

Following a report via Videocardz, however, comprehensive images and specifications have appeared online from many AM5 and SP5 cooler designs. And given that, as above, we’re still likely a year away from launch, this is very surprising news indeed!

AMD AM5 and SP5 Coolers!

Listed by ‘Cool Server’, a company I will honestly say I’ve personally never heard of, while the reveal is certainly interesting, it does come with a pretty notable caveat. Namely, that as the name might’ve suggested, it’s exceptionally unlikely that any of these coolers will be, or are intended for, a general consumer release. This is most notable in the vast that many of the designs are clearly passively cooled which, excluding the Noctua NH-P1, is highly uncommon for desktop systems.

Putting that to one side, however, with the listings also including specifications, let’s see what we have here!

What Do We Think?

So, as you’ve probably already ascertained for certain now based on these images, these are not exactly flashy cooling products and have clearly been designed more towards a specific purpose or with efficiency in mind. As above though, it’s certainly surprising to see so many cooler models confirmed when neither AM5 or SP5 is expected to arrive for quite a significant amount of time yet.

Who knows though, maybe AMD is getting a little ahead of the curve and might have some surprises for us. In that respect, however, we’re simply going to have to wait and see!
