It was only a week ago when Fortnite Battle Royale launched. Immediately reaching one million players on the first day. Now Epic Games is celebrating another milestone, reaching 7 million players. The developer adds that it is now on track to be their most successful game ever. The September 26 update added squads and new guns to the game. This includes a scoped assault rifle, and a mid-range tactical submachine gun as well as some in-game tweaks.
They have also made a promise of adding duos and supply drops when the 7 million milestone passes. Which is why players can now enjoy randomly dropping loots from the sky when they login to play. This feature will also allow the introduction of some of the more zany weapons from the “Save the World” campaign. There were initial issues with landing errors but it has now been resolved.
Moreover, the new duo mode lets players bring a friend. However, this feature will deploy differently per-region. Some regions might not be able to access it immediately, but Epic emphasizes that it will be in most regions.
They are also continually monitoring and upgrading server performance, especially with the much higher than expected player count. Currently, client stability is at 100 hours of MTBF. Which means on average a game crashes only every 100 hours of gameplay. Epic is promising a 10,000 hours MTBF goal so that the next 7 million players can play with no issues.
