Forza Horizon 5 Sells Over Five Million Copies on PS5
According to estimates by Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 has sold over five million copies on PlayStation 5, generating more than 300 million dollars in revenue. These earnings add to the already impressive results achieved on PC and Xbox platforms.
Analyst Rhys Elliott stated, “Forza Horizon 5 crossed 5 million copies sold on PS5 this week (@alineaanalytics estimates) That’s over $300M in revenue from a port of a four-year old game.”
Elliott further explained that “Xbox’s move to third-party is no mystery, especially given Microsoft’s lofty profitability mandates.” This shift reflects Microsoft’s evolving approach to managing Xbox intellectual properties, expanding their reach across multiple platforms.
Rapid Growth and Updated Sales Figures
Previous Alinea Analytics reports from July indicated around three million copies sold for the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5. The new data shows strong continued demand, making the updated numbers entirely plausible.
The success of the game on Sony’s console highlights how Microsoft’s recent cross-platform strategy is paying off. By bringing popular Xbox titles to PlayStation, the company is reaching a broader audience without sacrificing brand recognition.
Given such positive results, it comes as no surprise that Forza Horizon 6 has already been confirmed for PS5. However, the game is expected to release later on Sony’s console, as the conversion process is still underway.
The delay is likely linked to Microsoft’s recently reinforced multiplatform strategy. Development for the new installment probably began soon after the release of Forza Horizon 5, ensuring that the next chapter in the franchise continues to build on its success across all major gaming systems.
