The Fractal Design Define 7 has one hell of a legacy to live up to. The Define series has been one of the foundations of high-end PC building for as long as I can remember. Even their older models still hold up today, and I’m sure there are a few Define owners out there who feel no need to upgrade. However, it’s clear that Fractal Design has done it again, as this case is as versatile, flexible, and durable as they come.
Just like their previous models, it’s not a PC case you want to stub your toe on. Thick steel panels, heavy-duty reinforcements throughout, thick anti-noise and vibration dampening materials on the front, side and top. It’s all over-engineered and built to last. However, it’s the quality of the dust filters I appreciate the most. They fit in really tight, and all the other gaps are a really close fit throughout the case, side panels etc. So many cases suck dust in that never gets closer to a filter. Plus, they’re dual mesh, really robust, and the fact you can remove the bottom filter from the front, well that’s just awesome.
This case is pretty versatile right out of the box. Massive airflow design? Not a problem and you get three superb quality fans as standard. AIO? They’ll all fit easily. Custom loop? You can go BIG with this one, and there’s great support for mounting pumps/res hardware easily enough. Want an E-ATX motherboard and a huge array of HDDs? Swap a few panels around and you’re good to go.
It’s a little expensive, but as I said, you’re paying a premium for the tremendous build quality and Fractal Design has packed in a lot of cool features too. Plus, if you need to tweak the features, you can get additional HDD trays, SSD trays, a HDD cage, multi-brackets, and even a dark-tinted side panel. It even comes in a range of colours that range from white to grey and right down to black. They even got a bit spicy and offer some two-tone versions. It seems them, that there’s a Define 7 for every build you can think of. The Define series was always one of the best you can get, and it still is.
