Fractal Design Torrent Nano Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

It’s certainly not cheap, costing around £100, but in all fairness, it’s a stunning looking case, and quite a good size too, so I don’t think it’s particularly expensive given what you get in return. That front fan is worth nearly £30 on its own!

Overview

Fractal Design has really gone all out on the Torrent range of cases, and I suspect they’re not done with them yet either. The Torrent was freaking massive, the Torrent Compact is still massive, but considerably more sensible at the same time. In fairness, even the Nano came packed in a box that’d fit most mid-tower PC cases. I’m actually a little surprised it doesn’t fit a micro-ATX motherboard, but that’s hardly a deal-breaker.

The hardware you get is impressive though, with two massive dust filters, one on the front and one on the bottom. Not terribly exciting I know, but they’re very nice quality and the case is sealed up nice and tight, so it should stay very clean on the interior, even with its incredibly high airflow design. The huge fan in the front is serious business, it can move massive amounts of air with ease. It’s surprisingly quiet too, but if you did want a tiny hurricane in your case, it’s more than capable of that too.

I like the new take on old designs too. Moving the PSU shroud back up to the top makes sense, and it puts the GPU and CPU cooler more on show as they’re less obscured by the top of the case. It also promotes the PSU to act as an exhaust fan, while freeing up the whole bottom of the case for additional cooling mounts or passive air intake for the GPU.

Cable management is excellent, with four huge rubber grommets, lots of space behind the motherboard, velcro straps to tidy everything up, and of course, that PSU shroud has plenty of room for spare cables too. Overall, it’s very beginner-friendly, but there are a lot of options here for the enthusiast to have a bit of fun too.

I don’t know which version you would prefer, but honestly, I think that the solid version with no windows looks amazing, as does the tempered glass one. However, if you like to show off the RGB of your hardware, the white interior does a great job reflecting the light.

Fractal Design is one of the best case makers out there, and the Torrent series is proof of this. They’re all really cool and come with great features, no matter which form factor you choose. Highly recommended!
