FromSoftware Acknowledges Online Issues in Elden Ring and Dark Souls on PC, Promises a Fix Soon

Elden Ring

FromSoftware has announced that some of its games available on Steam are currently experiencing issues with online play. The developer, known for titles like Elden Ring and Dark Souls, has not yet confirmed which specific games are affected. Players are being asked to remain patient while the situation is resolved.

The Japanese studio addressed the problem through a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account. Usually, social media accounts for Dark Souls and Elden Ring also share such updates, but this time, they have remained silent.

In the message posted by @fromsoftware_sp (FromSoftware Player Support), the company stated: “Currently, some titles on the Steam version are experiencing difficulties with online play. We apologize for the inconvenience to all users and kindly ask for your patience until the situation improves.”

However, FromSoftware did not specify whether the issue is global or limited to certain regions.

Titles Potentially Affected by the Issue

The FromSoftware games on Steam that currently feature online functionality include:

  • Dark Souls II
  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
  • Dark Souls III
  • Dark Souls: Remastered
  • Elden Ring
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
  • Elden Ring: Nightreign

On December 3, Bandai Namco released The Forsaken Hollows, an expansion for the cooperative roguelite Elden Ring: Nightreign. This update introduced two third-day bosses, a dynamic new environment, and additional gameplay elements. Within five days of launch, the expansion sold over two million copies.

FromSoftware is also working on several new projects. In 2026, the studio plans to launch what is rumored to be its most ambitious title yet — The Duskbloods for the Nintendo Switch 2. This will be an action-focused player-versus-environment game, though few details have been revealed so far.

Additionally, the developer is preparing Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, a version of the critically acclaimed open-world RPG designed for Switch 2. Originally delayed due to performance issues, the game is now expected to release later this year.
