Fujifilm Introduces the Budget-Friendly X-A5 Mirrorless Camera

Budget-Friendly Fujifilm Mirrorless Camera

Fujifilm has unveiled the followup to their X-A3 called the X-A5. It is a budget-friendly mirrorless camera with a 24-MP sensor using traditional Bayer color filter rather than X-Trans.

Despite the low price, the Fujifilm X-A5 addresses several key issues which plagued its predecessor. Namely the slower performance and underwhelming auto-focus system.

According to Fujifilm, the X-A5’s processor is at least 1.5x faster so there is no waiting around. Moreover, it features a new phase-detect AF system that is more functional than before. The X-A5 also has better scene recognition and color reproduction.

Even the battery life gets an increase. Now the camera can handle an impressive 450 shots per charge. Data transfer is also very easy thanks to Bluetooth connectivity.

What About Video Features?

While photos are nice, more and more users expect capable video recording from their mirrorless camera. Thankfully, Fujifilm packs the X-A5 with 4K capabilities. However, it is not what one would normally expect. Utilizing the burst function, users can shoot up to 15 frames per second in 4K image quality. It can be up to 5 minutes long, but its not exactly a true 4K video capability per-se.

However, the 1080p HD video function can record up to 60fps for up to 14 minutes of continuous recording.

How Much Does it Cost?

The Fujifilm X-A5 comes bundled with the new XC 15-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS Power Zoom lens. This combo should fetch for around $599 and will begin shipping in early February. Users can choose between silver & black, silver & brown and silver & pink variants. The body-only version will be available for only $299.
